Title: Shattered Galaxy

Sigma - May 5, 2008 08:58 PM (GMT)
Over the millenium various empires have risen and fallen, each ushering in new eras of peace, warfare, and silence. The first species which evoled were the long dead Slaan, these star faring alien plied the galaxy spreading life and bringing order to their new creations. During their voyages they encountered other races that had acheived sentience, and they all joined the mighty Slaan in their vision for the future. The Slaan were the moulders of worlds and the creators of life on untold millions of planets, and their legacies still exist, even though the Slaan have long since become extinct.

The fall of the Slaan came when an envious race called the Necrontyr made contact with them. The Necrontyr immediately despised the Slaan for their long lives and god-like arrogance. The Necrontyr race was dying slowly, due mainly to the star which they orbited. The Necrontyr were short lived and died mainly of hideous cancers. The Slaan offered them no assistance, so war was declared. The Slaan paid the Necrontyr with no thought, and continued their journeys.

The Necrontyr were not so quick to forget the insult done to them and they launched their weapons against the Slaan. How the Necrontyr brought the Slaan Empire down is lost to the sands of time, but needless to say, both races effectively wiped each other out.

In the quiet peace that followed the races the Slaan had seeded throughout the galaxy were acheiving sentience. One race grew to prominence in the Delta Quadrant, the Zeltross. The Zeltross quickly mastered the technologies left to them by the Slaan and within a few thousand years had colonised most of the Delta Quadrant. but, they also grew increasingly corrupted and enslaved many species that stand in their path. it led to a war that the zeltross could not have avoided, and burned their Empire in ashes. they bcame weak and fled deem intto their remaining territories.

Over the next 6,000 years the Zeltross spread out and became isolationist, a dying race that tentatively clung to existence, but now less than one hundred thousand are alive. This period saw the rise of various galactic powers, as well as their fall. but a few of the thousands of races and empires that sprang up in the power vacuum left by the Zeltross. Many of these nations still exist in the modern galaxy, although they are now pale by comparison to their former glories.

It is now the modern day, the humans have dubbed this year 2380, although many other races have their own calenders. These are troubled times, the allegiences of many is open to the highest bidder, and many races are looking to the stars, each with their own dreams. Some of conquest, some of research, some of discovery, some of wealth. No matter the dream, the goal is the same.

However, even with the new races on the verge of becoming the new powers in the galaxy ancient enemies still exist, older empires still cling to their territories. Many secrets lie across countless worlds, some so terrible that to unearth them would be folly. On the outer edge of the galaxy a terror awaits the unwary and the predations of pirates, renegades and aliens rule the void.

It is the dawn of a new era, and those who are unpreppared will not see it through.
