Title: The Revived. Hell Unleashed
Description: The last few Chosen fight against hell.

Stranghill Olganis - January 27, 2008 11:16 PM (GMT)
In the days of old, there were many knights, who would pledge themselves to god's will. They would swear an oath, 'My lord, god of all that is around us, I swear to you my loyalty and praise, from now to eternity. I swear to uphold all of the righteous laws that you have set upon us, with honor and humility." This oath varies from person to person, but that is the standard. This oath, when recited, invokes God's judgment. God looks upon the oath-sayer, and decides whether he truly means to uphold His laws. If he believes it is the truth, he grants mighty powers to the oath-sayer. But there is one power held in highest regard. They do not die forever. Every time an oath-sayer dies, they go to heaven, where they can ask God for revival. Simply asking as an oath-sayer allows them to be revived, but first, they have to go through a trial. An obstacle course of sorts. No matter how quickly the oath-sayer finishes the trial, he cannot revive until at least one year after his death, as God can not constantly manipulate the world, as it would cause great ripples through the mortal realm. An oath-sayer can be revived an infinite number of times, but the trial they must go through after death becomes harder each time they have to try.

When an oath-sayer revives, they are revived as they were when they were in their prime. This is to insure that no matter how many revivals they go through, they can serve God and the people of the mortal realms. There is one major problem though...

The devil, of course.

The devil, whom resides in hell, as all know, holds power as God does. God can normally seal away the devil's power from the mortal realms to a degree, but the number six brings enormous power to the devil. No oath-sayer has ever passed the sixth revival's trial, as the devil is able to manipulate the trial, and make it extraordinarily difficult, so difficult that not even what was believed to be the best oath-sayer could not pass. So, it became common knowledge that you could only be revived five times.

But then... There was a man who knew the truth... An oath-sayer who found out a dark secret of the devil and the devil's plans. However, a satanic cultist assassinated the oath-sayer before he could stop the devil. And this... Was his fifth life.

Although the oath-sayer knew that the devil would not be able to amass the power needed for his plan (the oath-sayer learned of the plan by defeating a satanic cultist camp while they were in the middle of receiving a message from the devil) until several millennia. The reason that the oath-sayer thought that it was of up-most importance to stop it, was that the devil was getting stronger every day. The longer it took, the stronger the devil would get.

So, the oath-sayer was put into heaven, and God immediately granted him revival, but it was his sixth trial, and all the angels of heaven were doubtful of his success. If he failed, it would be the first time since the great Heaven and Hell war that God sent angels directly into hell. God did not want to do this, as whenever there was a battle between heaven and hell, the mortal realms suffered the most out of both sides. There would be countless millions, if not billions, killed within the mortal realms.

So, the oath-sayer began his trial, but the Devil was smart. The devil manipulated the trial to make sure that the oath-sayer would not be able to succeed by the time the Devil had his power, but he failed. The oath-sayer, after several thousand years of attempting and planning while trying not to die within the trial (As death within the trial resulted in being turned into an angel, unable to try again) and he finally reached the end. He went back to earth....

And the world was modern. Sin had in fact increased while holiness decreased. The number of satanic cults had lessened, but there were far more sinners in the world than before.

The Devil was incredibly strong, and incredibly angry.

But the number six still held power, and a great mass of power indeed. The devil's great plan had been to amass enough power to turn every mortal man in the realms into a demon. He needed to do this because he amassed his power from sin int he mortal realms, not from sin in Hell. Therefore, if he turned mortal men into demons, then his power would increase a hundred fold, so powerful, he could easily conquer all of heaven. But, with the number six on his side, the sixth revival was still in place, and although he couldn't turn mortal men into demons, he could send his own demons into the mortal realm to attack the oath-sayer. These demons of course, did not affect the power that the devil amassed from sin. There are only a few oath-sayers left, most of whom are on their fifth revival, and most of them have yet to find each other.

God knows that the odds are against the oath-sayers, but his ability to intervene is highly limited, as the number six also drains his power. So, all he can do is grant a bit more power to the few remaining oath-sayers, send only a few angels and hope they can find each other and defeat the demons that walk the mortal realms.

What is the goal of the oath-sayers? The oath-sayers' task is to find the few remaining satanic cults, and use the knowledge of portal making to form an entrance to Hell. Directly into the devil's throne-room. And it is said that if ever a man of god (not an angel) was able to enter hell, the devil's power would fail him, he would be unable to defend himself, and hell itself would be destroyed.

So... Who will win? The oath sayers or the cultists?

FACTIONS:
There are many groups involved in this war, here's a description of each.

MORTAL MEN: NON-PLAYABLE:
Mortal men are just humans. They are not oath-sayers, they are not satanic cultists, they are not holy or unholy at all. There is no point in playing as these characters, as you wouldn't be able to do anything against demons or the like.

SATANIC CULTISTS: IMPORTANT:
Satanic cultists are devil-worshipers of course. They have knowledge of ancient scrolls and the like that allow them to cast unholy spells, as well as communicate with the devil himself. The stronger of the cultists can summon minor demons from Hell.

DEMONS: IMPORTANT:
Demons from hell that the devil has sent to destroy the oath-sayers. They are powerful, and bear great unholy magic as their weapons. A select few have Hell's Blood weapons. These weapons are weapons enchanted by the devil, and grant even greater power than the demons already have. There are two types of demons, Demons and Daemons. Daemons are much stronger, and they are the ones who are even ABLE to wield Hell's Blood weapons.

OATH-SAYERS: IMPORTANT
There are only a few oath-sayers left, as most of humanity has left behind the oath tradition in the modern era. The few that are left are isolated from each other, but in these dark times, God has attempted to set a beacon for them to see, so they can meet each other. They contain holy powers, such as Blinding Light, Undead Turning (Demons can raise undead, and cultists can raise minor undead), and other holy magics. They can be spoken to by God and can speak back.

ANGELS: IMPORTANT:
Angels are God's immortal soldiers, the equivalent of demons. There are two types of angels as well, Angels and Arch-Angels. They have great holy powers, and some are blessed with Heavenly Soul weapons, the equivalent of Hell's Blood weapons. There are only a few on earth, though, as God's power was diminished when a sixth revival was completed.

Those are all the current factions.

I won't post my profile yet, as someone might want the leading oath-sayer. If so, I will take the role of a demon.
