The girl screamed once, only once. Though it was still a mistake on his part. Next time he'd tie the gag tighter, only a little tighter though. Without remorse, without thought, he drove home the knife, into her neck. The warm feeling of the liquid on the hilt, and his hand, it was one he'd always liked.

It was that intimate little moment between victim and killer, something so intimate, even pure animal sex didn't come close to matching this feeling.
The knife tore the shirt, then her skin, digging deep into her stomach, then slicing it. No one really knew how tough human skin was, it was a bit tougher than you'd expect it to be. Usually though this was what happened, the knife tearing through a jacket, shirt, or even nothing at all, only skin.

Then there was the part he hated. He'd always hated this part. The fear in her eyes, realizing she couldn't fight it, couldn't live anymore. He never liked the tears which filled his eyes.
Some murderer he was. Filled with remorse. Sometimes deep regret.
But he never let it faze him.

Hearing the sirens, he lay the woman down gently, looking around to find there was no trace of him being here, only the body.
Police were getting more and more quick at reacting to even the smallest sounds in the middle of the night. He wasn't sure they were here for him. But, it was just a precaution.

Sighing heavily, he took the crow feather from his jacket pocket, looking at the blood, all mixed of five people. An old man. A teenager. A young adult. Even an old friend. Then finally that last one.
His boss.
Wiping the feather gently over the woman's blood, mixing her blood with the other five, he sighed, and put it back in his pocket.

Creeping out from the window, he looked at his hand.

He hated the sight of blood tainting him.

Sitting in the bar of 'Evolution', a very popular and classy, calm cafe and club. Theodore 'Theo' Alderic looked around, he was talking, but not out loud. He was talking mentally to the 'half', the 'entity' which shared his body.
We messed up! We had regret, something's going wrong with us, Azrael!
No, Theo, something's wrong withyou I'm fine, I can handle killing. As long as it let's us keep our home, I'm fine... Now where's that damn messenger, they were supposed to be here an hour ago!

Sighing heavily, Theo downed the coffee and looked around, noticing a woman and giving her a light smile. Flirting, such a subtle, yet common, thing to do.
He heard his Half, Azrael, chuckle in his head,
She's cute, eh, Theo?

Shut up, Azrael!

Fine, he thought, so she's cute, so what? That doesn't mean anything! Wait, yes it does. It means you'd want to flirt. And flirting usually leads to a date.

Ugh... Maybe we do need to get back into 'the game'... How long's it been...?
About four or five years, now that you ask, Laughing slightly at his Half, he downed his coffee again, knowing it would make him sick. The less time he spent doing a job, the better...

He'd been feeling deep regret lately, and that was a dangerous thing in his line of work.

But that's how he lived... He was a Ghost.
