Title: 7th Edition!

Grand Seraphim - June 2, 2006 07:50 PM (GMT)
Wow, who is Phsyced? Im hearing lots of rumours flying around, and new rulebook is looking quite nice (from the outside that is).

Any rumours, bits of info or opinions on the 7th edition (or what in your opinion it "should" be) should go here.

Also, if there is any problem of how it may effect our Angels, please post it here as well.

Personally, i have heard magic is going to become more defensive but other than this i am lost on what changes are taking place. Any ideas?

Cheers

GS

I have heard quite a few rumors, many (which means almost all) of which I dont like.

Clavix - June 2, 2006 10:10 PM (GMT)
I've heard that the miscast table is more harsh and that ranks need to be 5 wide to count now.

Woodpecker - June 3, 2006 03:09 AM (GMT)
Jeez, I don't pay attention for a week, and a new edition comes out. Could somebody link me to the full details? The pics? Is this official, or is somebody just a few months late with the april fools jokes?

I heard these things too. I also heard:
Cav/Chariots must charge from at least half their charge range away to gain their lance bonus/spear bonus/impact hits
If a fleeing unit hits an enemy unit it is instantly destroyed
Characters within 5" of friendly units are freely targetable by shooting, you must be in the unit to be safe.
Skirmishers may not 'march' within 8" of enemy units

I heard some other things too that I can't remember right now :P

Alright, but it better keep a bit of offensive power

I like this, but many boxes come in multiples of 4 (8, 12, 16)

I didnt understand this one. Does it mean they can flee right into it?

I dont like the current rule. Also, dont forget that they go behind the unit and be out of LoS below 5 models.

This is my least favorite of all. It really drops the effectiveness of skirmishers. I'm sure that, if this is real, we will have a house rule against it within a month.

Ironskintribe - June 3, 2006 03:08 PM (GMT)
I am glad that they will release a new rulebook here but I will not buy it because the box set that they will be selling for about the same as Macragge will have a small rulebook with all the rules. Other than that I am with Shooty on every point that he made.

Baranthazul - June 3, 2006 03:46 PM (GMT)
WP, the new edition is scheduled for release in I think November of this year? It's in time for the UK GT's, and I think around holiday season. Rumors....wow, I've heard a lot. Most favorable ones are +1 CR for being wider, halberds are +1 S and AP, GW's are only +1 S when mounted, and that lances etc. only give their bonuses when the cavalry are at least movement away (i.e M7 cav need to be 7-14" away). I'm not a fan of the rule that fast cav can't negate ranks, however.

Grand Seraphim - June 4, 2006 07:41 AM (GMT)
Wow, all of these are really intresting. The lances rule could prove very weird though and complicate some things...

WP, new edition is coming out November/October'ish just after Medusa V. Pics of front cover look nice, and i thought 6th edition cover was nice! I might wait a bit to get special edition. I know, i know, its a rip, but i just love WH that much :D

I've heard a few rumours, but I'm steadfastedly ignoring them, because, well, they're rumours on the internet, EDITED by GS, you have been contacted

That rule isn't included, according to the playtesters, which is a great relief for me, since if it were, the only unit in my Asrai list that could negate ranks would be Glade Guard, and I'm always eager to get them into combat, of course :P

yippee! Men at arms now pack a punch! (yes they are still naff)

The 7th edition IS underway. i read on the GW site from someone who is working on it that itr is under construction, in the following context:

"Don't base your GT army around a single character after the new 7th ed rules come out, ..."

Grand Seraphim - June 4, 2006 08:41 PM (GMT)
No more magehammer? Damn. There goes Lord Kroak out of the list again... :P

GS

Prince Senlaith - June 5, 2006 08:53 AM (GMT)
Lord Kroak should never have been created in the first place, he is an abomination that should be destroyed for the good of all warhammerplayerkind! Same goes for Thorgrim Grudgebearer (why 7 wounds I ask you? Why does this pansy dwarf sitting on a throne have more wounds than a dragon or a giant?).

And yes, I know 7th Ed. is coming out (saw it in white dwarf), I'm just ignoring all the rumours about possible changes, because it's just impossible to validate anything on the internet. For all we know, all those changes could have been made up on the spot by some random guy wanting attention.

Well, they can win combat if you know what you're doing. Regenerating glade guard that cause fear and have 2 attacks come to mind.

Hak, was there more said? Where did you see this?

Grand Seraphim - June 6, 2006 05:14 PM (GMT)
It was a joke, actually he can be quite fun 4k+.

Well no there wasn't more said, and i can't remember for the life of me where i saw it, it arose from a long convoluted trek starting at my online WD.

EDIT

found it i think.... http://uk.games-workshop.com/tournaments/design-notes/1/

its about half way down the page, about independant characters.

I hope the link works

Ironskintribe - June 21, 2006 03:24 PM (GMT)
Hak please merge your double post, and the new 7th edition comes out on september 9th with the new boxed set that is cheap and fricking awsome! I am glad to see that Warhammer will be getting some revisions and a cheaper and better starter set.

Haktar - June 22, 2006 03:18 PM (GMT)
merged the posts, dunno how to delete the second one. there is no obvious "delete" button

shootyarmies - June 22, 2006 11:05 PM (GMT)
How did you merge them, then?

Ironskintribe - June 22, 2006 11:40 PM (GMT)
He just copied what he wrote from one post to the next and then I deleted his other post. I figured you could delete your own posts but I guess not.

shootyarmies - June 23, 2006 02:45 PM (GMT)
Maybe we should suggest that to WP when he comes back.

Grand Seraphim - June 23, 2006 05:16 PM (GMT)
Ive chatted with him about this, and the official line is no. If a mod feels somthing needs changing/deleting then they should do it themselves.

Ironskintribe - June 23, 2006 08:30 PM (GMT)
Enough of the off topic discussion however. Let us continue with the with topic's discussion.

Haktar - June 24, 2006 04:19 PM (GMT)
~checks what the topic was~

Oh yeh.
I welcome a new WHF system, it'll be a change

Grand Seraphim - June 28, 2006 03:40 PM (GMT)
Yeah, i think everyone will like to see the new system. Battle for skull pass looks good if the front cover is not the least bit corny.

Only thing that strikes me is the different scale of minatures in the 40k set compared to the fantasy set. It has over 100 models in it! 40k does not even have half of that. Ah well.

GS

Dark Angel - June 28, 2006 04:30 PM (GMT)
we will have to redo the entire army's rules and stats when the new edition comes out

Ironskintribe - June 28, 2006 08:37 PM (GMT)
no we won't da there will not be that much change.

shootyarmies - June 29, 2006 03:17 PM (GMT)
We will have to change a thing or two, though.

Grand Seraphim - June 29, 2006 06:31 PM (GMT)
Wow, this is great conversation. "No we wont"
"Yes we will".

7th edition is not going to be a complete overhall, a few things may need to be changed in armies (the tactics used with wizard i presume) but most of the principals will stay the same. People may also field bigger units.
