Title: Medusa V

Grand Seraphim - May 23, 2006 04:53 PM (GMT)
Anyone planning on playing in Medusa V this year? Ive been put in charge of a campaign at my local gaming group, so thats six weeks of narrative, no pressure...

Here is some fluff on my "general" for my combined Inqusition force, it has a fair bit of fluff from the Thorian Sourcebook, so if you dont understand any of it you may want to consider downloading it from Specialist Games Website,

-Inquisitor Lord Molotov has brought his personal army accompanied by requisitioned Grey Knights to defend the Monastery of Madigales deep within the Ferrus Mountains. Rumour has it, a bounty hunter has informed him that an unseen force intends to annihilate the Astropathic Choir that is situated there, cutting all communication to the rest of the Imperium. The Monastery, having close ties with the Ecclesiary have even given the Lord access to the few Arco-Flagellants that the Monastery keeps in its employ. A small platoon of Vostoryan firstborn have even been inducted into his army to bolster its strength giving Molotov access to almost every part of the Imperial military.

Lord Molotov is a shadow of his former self, a devout Thorian at the beginning of his career Molotov found himself searching for those precious few individuals who could host the Emperors soul, he has had a huge revelation and by the of Medusa V he has become a devout Amalathian.

Joining the Ordo responsible for overseeing the Officio Assassinorum he was inducted into Inquisitor Stakhav's retinue as an Acolyte. Stakhav, being a Thorian taught Molotov their philosophy. Faced with Incredible individuals daily, he was always on the look out for those who would be worthy of carrying the Emperors Holy Spirit. Those who were exceptional, and yet, not good enough would be recommended as new recruits to the temples of the Assassinorum which they were most grateful for. After Stakhavs passing Molotov was promoted to replace Stakhav and take on his duties as a fully-fledged Inquisitor in his own right.

He became particularly adept at finding those ruthless enough to become a member of the Eversor temple; he began to become more involved with it and learned many of the secret training that a candidate undertook. Molotov eventually was bestowed the rank of Inquisitor Lord and upon the day of his inauguration chose to adopt the face mask of the Eversor, covering his face with that of a skull in all company only removing it when he was alone.

He was part of the Inquisitor Lords who campaigned to have the Prophet Icarael released from the clutches of Karmazov, after it was found that Icarael was a heretic Molotov was humiliated and went into hiding. Afterwards he was very rarely seen within Imperial space. Rumor had it that he had taken to living on a small Rogue Trader vessel "borrowed" from an old "friend" and that he spent his time orbiting the distant Halo stars. Many suspected he had committed suicide or had died in a secret operation. Whatever the reason Molotov left memory.

He emerged just over a century ago from his hiding, old, frail and crippled. He had been tracking an individual whom he believed was fit to carry the Emperors soul, he requsitioned a large amount of Adeptus Sororitas and lead a crusade to find the individual who came to bee known as Trotsim.

When finally coming face to face with Trotism, Molotov discovered the awful truth, he had been betrayed. Trotsim was not a loyal citizen of the Imperium, instead nothing but a pawn in a game used to lure Molotov into the clutches of the Eldar. Farseer Kalganesh had been plotting to kill Molotov for centuries, but after going into hiding there was only one way to get him back out. Molotov had ordered the Exterminatrus of one of the few worlds still populated by a signifigent number of Eldar, and Kalganesh wanted revenge. The two individuals duelled for days as there armies battled around them. Both were weak physically with Old age, but their spirits burned with the passion of a thousand warriors. Across the psychic plain they fought, eventually Molotov was able to distract Kalganesh with the blast from a mighty Psycannon, taking the advantage he was able to vanquish the alien, however at great cost.

Molotov had to be operated on immediately to let him live, his flesh was scorched and useless, it had to be removed. His mask became his new face, and breathing apparatus, moulded to his very being he could no longer live without it. Molotov lived, augmented beyond belief, he was more machine than man, and yet his fiery will to do the work of the emperor continued.

A meeting of the mysterious leaders of the Daughters of the Emperor ended with the desicion that Molotov was no longer to requsition any Sisters, none had survived the encounter with the eldar and many Paletines and Cannonesses no longer trusted him claiming that darkness lay within his soul.

After being lured into the trap by the Eldar, his faith was shattered in the Thorian philosophy, instead taking upon an Amalathian ideal that no change should occur he now is once more becoming well known in the Imperirum, his dread eternal gaze is said to be enough to crush the heart of a heretic immediately.

Molotov can no longer speak with ease and so surrounds himself at all times by his most trusted retinue, Sages and Lexmechanics using his Psychic impulses to chart his orders, he is truly unique amongst the Inquisitors of the Imperium.

Molotov refused to train any acolytes and his retinue consisted entirely of Servitors, Warriors, Sages and the like. Recently, however, an individual emerged who found favour in the old Inquisitors eyes. Molotov took on Krushchael as his new acolyte. After putting him through tests so vigorous some rumour that even a warrior of the Adeptus Astartes would die trying to pass them he deemed him worthy. Krushchael was an exceptional Acolyte with devotion in the Emperor that would have been envied by some of the fieriest priests in the Ecclesisarchy, destined for great things Krushcahel quickly was deemed worthy of the rank of Inquisitor. Still young Krushcahel chooses to remain with his master.

Molotov has decreed that Medusa V will be Krushcahel’s final challenge, should he succeed in the tasks that Molotov has set for him then the old Inquisitor Lord has nothing left to teach the promising individual.

Should he fail, of course it is agreed across the Inquisition it would be a great loss to the Imperium to lose the talent of such a promising young student. What Molotov has planned is a mystery to all but himself, but being so weak and frail there are some who begin to question, is the Inquisitor Lord to old for the huge responsibilities he retains to this day?

I do not plan on doing the campaign this summer because I am more into non-GW games right now (Privateer Press games) and I also am not the biggest fans of 40k campaigns. If I want to run a campaign I usually make one of my own rather than use the GW ones. Good luck with yours though GS.

I do normally run my "own" campaign (heck you think my gaming group waits three years for a campaign :P)

This one just happens to coincide with Medusa V, so im running it off of Medusa V.
