Title: Warvault Webring
Woodpecker - March 18, 2006 09:47 PM (GMT)
We just joined the Warvault webring, an interactive network of Warhammer sites. It seems like it could be good advertising for us, if we get up near the top ten on the member list. But for that, we need votes. So please, vote for us. You can do so by scrolling down to the bottom of the forum and clicking on on the Warvault Banner down there. Please only vote ONCE until the list is reset, or we can be kicked off of the list for spam voting.
Edit: Okay, I asked, and we're allowed to vote once a day. Please try and do so, everyone!
Thank you,
Woodpecker
shootyarmies - March 19, 2006 01:26 AM (GMT)
Voted. And what makes you think any of us would vote more than once? We would never do that. :P
I think it could work, but how will we make it to being one of the higher sites? We dont have enough people to do that.
Ironskintribe - March 19, 2006 01:37 AM (GMT)
I agree with shooty but I will still only vote once.
Woodpecker - March 19, 2006 03:39 AM (GMT)
Most of the sites only have a few votes. I think if we get most of our active members to vote (20 or so), we can stay in the Top 5-10 consistently.
Baranthazul - March 19, 2006 03:50 AM (GMT)
Get your friends to vote. I've gotten 5 votes so far.
---Baran
shootyarmies - March 19, 2006 03:55 AM (GMT)
We're 13th with 7 votes already, and 26th overall. Keep them coming, people!
Unless you already voted, of course.
Baranthazul - March 19, 2006 04:14 AM (GMT)
I've gotten 5 friends, and myself to vote for us. We're top 20!
---Baran
shootyarmies - March 19, 2006 04:32 AM (GMT)
8th in warhammer, 18th overall, yes!
Woodpecker - March 19, 2006 03:44 PM (GMT)
Okay, we can vote DAILY, so please, try and do so if you can.
Ironskintribe - March 19, 2006 04:15 PM (GMT)
We can each vote once per day?
Sweet!
7th in warhammer and 14th in overall
Woodpecker - March 19, 2006 05:29 PM (GMT)
Yes, the site will only let your IP vote that often. Please note that even if you have one of those dynamic IPs, you should only vote once per day. It's only fair that way. Thanks.

Hi Everyone,
Great to see so much activity from you lot over here! It's a cool looking site and a very good idea. I've seen angels, and the idea of heaven and hell, mentioned in WH fan fluff for a good while, so it's intriguing to see this.
And I did some house army book rules for Nippon a few months back, so I know how damn difficult it is! Keep up the good work. ;)

Ironskintribe - March 20, 2006 01:25 AM (GMT)
Thanks for the compliments. If we can keep Baran under controll I am sure that we will get some good work done.
Baranthazul - March 20, 2006 01:38 AM (GMT)
At least I can spell control. And angron, are you going to work on this, or are you just acting like the FDA (american food and drug administration, GS: they make sure someone doesn't pass feces as chocolate, etc).

Well, I usually drop by the sites to see how it's going and stuff, but I suppose I can throw in my two cents if there's a specific issue you're working on that's causing problems?
I say cents, and mean pence.

Woodpecker - March 21, 2006 09:26 PM (GMT)
I've already started. :P Thanks!
Grand Seraphim - March 21, 2006 09:29 PM (GMT)
Yeah, WP generally is involved with most advertising, (partly cause he is well known on the web, partly because he has a secret passion for spam...) i am currently dying under weight of exams, but thanks for all the info.

Woodpecker - March 24, 2006 09:25 PM (GMT)
I seem to be one of only one or two people still voting. C'mon guys, it takes like 10 seconds, and with a good push we could be up in 5th.
Ironskintribe - March 25, 2006 03:27 PM (GMT)
I vote every day and now we are tied for 5th overall and tied for 4th in fantasy.
Woodpecker - March 25, 2006 10:21 PM (GMT)
The list has been reset! Get out there and vote, and put us up in first right away!
shootyarmies - March 25, 2006 10:30 PM (GMT)
Well, we're up to first, but with only 3 votes. I wonder if anyone actually uses this thing to find sites.
Ironskintribe - March 25, 2006 10:35 PM (GMT)
Yeah me too. We are number 1 with 4 votes right now though.
Woodpecker - March 26, 2006 04:25 AM (GMT)
Well, we've gotten four new members since we got on the list, and it's the only advertising we've done recently, as far as I know. So personally, I'm all for it. ;)
Angel of Algebra - March 26, 2006 08:49 AM (GMT)
If you're counting Liger, that was me and Baran adspamming :P
clicky!
AoAlgebra
Woodpecker - March 26, 2006 02:04 PM (GMT)
I wasn't, although I suppose the others may have come because of you guys as well.
Baranthazul - March 26, 2006 02:40 PM (GMT)
Well, I doubt Brannic and Agron (two head honchos of the 'vault), who weren't in the chat, came because of our spam.
---Baran
Ironskintribe - March 26, 2006 03:53 PM (GMT)
Yeah the members we have gotten don't seem to be very active so I wouldn't really count them.
Woodpecker - March 26, 2006 04:01 PM (GMT)
Well, they pad the stats, which gives us credability. :P
Grand Seraphim - March 26, 2006 06:33 PM (GMT)
Ahh, were 2nd now, we only need one vote to push us up to first (if i understand the whole vote in/vote out system. If ive got it wrong, well, im drunk.)

Brannick - March 26, 2006 06:42 PM (GMT)
The vote listings isn't the real reason for Warvault at all, it's a side feature that sites have a tendancy to enjoy. Yes, it is one way for net surfers to find your site.
The aim and purpose of Warvault is to be a central place where to find all the best gaming sites on the net and a place where those sites can promote and market themselves for free.
Very few of the sites within Warvault have grasped this concept as very few use the facilities that we have to offer. We can only tell the sites so many times of what we have to offer, if they choose not to use the facilities then that is their look out.

Ironskintribe - March 26, 2006 07:33 PM (GMT)
I don't get the whole vote out thing. It seems to have nothing to do with the rating of the site on the ranks. And GS we used to be first. Anyways, WP has taken advantage of the use of the forums on Warvault to advertise for our site so we are trying to use all of its features to promote our site.
Woodpecker - March 27, 2006 03:43 PM (GMT)
Don't worry Brannick, I plan on using most of the resources on your site. :P
By the way, can I suggest you make a sort of Warvault Guide, explaining what everything does? I'm often confused by different features. The vote/hit system, for example.
Brannick - March 27, 2006 06:42 PM (GMT)
Believe it or not, since we set up Warvault only a handful of sites have actually asked us questions, we expected to be inundated!!
Votes In = where someone clicks your site banner on the Warvault "home" page and registers a vote for your site.
Votes Out = where someone clicks your site banner on the Warvault "main" page (otheriwse known as the tracker/listings page) and actually uses Warvault to get to your site.
Hits In = where someone has clicked your Warvault banner here to get to Warvault.
Warvault can be a little complex so if you do have questions then ask away, either here or to the Warvault e-mail account.
Regards
Brannick
Woodpecker - March 27, 2006 07:11 PM (GMT)
Okay, I get it. How do the votes average out? Is it just the total, or is one type worth more than the other?
How does a site become site of the day?
How does a site get reviewed by the suggestions team?

@ Woodpecker
I am unsure as to what you mean when you ask how the "votes average out" ?
At the moment the voting page resets after a fortnight to give all sites the chance to have a go at getting near to the top. "Unique" votes are within the statistics, but, the statisitcs only really work when sites link to the Warvault tracker page. Most sites link to the votes, but, occasionally a site will display both to get the benefits of each. It is the Warvault tracker page that registers the statistics.
I decide who is site of the day (I take all manner of bribes)! ;)
The suggestions team is a brand new idea and we have only reviewed 1 site to date. If you would like Serpahim to be reviewed then please stick your thoughts over in the thread at the Warvault community site. Angron is undertaking the next one.

Thanks for all the work you guys are putting in on your webring to help promote warhammer sites. Thanks for answering our questions as well. I am sure that we will take care to use all of the features that you guys have to offer. And thanks for clearing up the way the whole voting system works.
Woodpecker - March 28, 2006 04:44 AM (GMT)
I pretty much have to agree with Iron (woe is me). Gracias!
