Title: Necron

Grand Seraphim - January 17, 2006 05:40 PM (GMT)
Okay, Well i play Necrons (everyone stones GS). But after thinking about an idea i made for the army ages ago i reckon it could be adapted into a sort of Necron ship to be used in 40K (to give them some sort of uber vechicle apart from the Pylon).

Necron Ark
Decending from up high in orbit these are seen heralding the first sign of a, Necron invasion. These massive vessles are the size of the mighty thunderhawk gunships that the space marines emploly to begin planet fall and combat in space.

The might of these arks is impossible to comprehend able to annihlate the enemy with blasts of energy that destroys all in its path...

------------Front---Side---Rear
Armour-----14------14----14

Structure points: 3

Type: Super Heavy Flyer, Orbital Lander

Crew: None

4x Gauss Cannons
1x Particle Whip
2x Gauss flux Arc (one on each side)

Transport: The Ark can carry a Necron Battle force to war or the mighty monoliths that make the Necrontyr so feared in full scale war.

The Ark may carry up to 40 infantry Models or 2 Vechicles. It may not carry Pylons, Arks, C'tan, Scarabs, Destroyers or heavy destroyers. Tomb Spyders count as 5 Infantry models.

Note that the Necron Lord does not take up any space. He may always ride upon the Ark as he can be seated within the centre of whatever twisted control room piolts the ship of living metal. The necron lord can not use any equipment while inside the ark however.

If the ark is destroyed then its cargo is destroyed with it.

Living Metal: Follow all the rules in the monolith entry.

Power Matrix: The power matrix works in a different way within the ark as the power source is internal rather than external.

The Ark may use one of the following abilities every turn.

1. Over charge weapons: The sudden increase in power charges the Particle whip into a single shot rather than Ordance. The Particle Whips stats are changed to S10 AP1 Heavy 2.

2.Warp: If there is space inside the ark then the player may warp one necron unit from the field of battle up onto the ark, any members of the unit entitled to a will be back through, even though they may have already died at a failed attempt instantly re-roll the through. (so even if the model died on turn 1 and it is now turn 4 the model is still rolled a will be back through). Any members of the squad who pass this test will be returned with to battle when they are returned to battle.

The Ark may only warp units it can carry, and it cannot warp vechicles.

3. Contact Tomb Ship: If the Ark uses this power it may not shoot any other weapon or deply its cargo this turn. The Tomb ship sends down a massive blast onto the planet annihlating a single target. Nominate a single piece of Terrain on the board, then roll the scatter dice and 2D6, then place the ordance marker. Whatever it covers suffers an instant 2D6 S8 AP2.

Hey I play Necrons too!!!!!!!!! I've been playing them for like 3 or 4 years now. I guess I should read the rest of your post too and comment on that.

Grand Seraphim - January 18, 2006 04:15 PM (GMT)
Im constnatly slagged off for playing Necrons :D People claim they are an "unbeatable army" (i have not lost a game in a year and i play at least a game a week :D)

Are you persecuted for you love of the ancient evils?

Seraphim Anointed - January 18, 2006 06:51 PM (GMT)
unbeatable? every game i've played against them has been a victory...maybe its the opponents...or me of course! muwhahahaha...

Ironskintribe - January 18, 2006 08:47 PM (GMT)
Depends on who I play and the army they play but Necrons are nowhere near unbeatable. People claim they are cheese but they are expensive as hell and have very limited shoices for units. Overall they are an ok army and I think people just like to complain that they have too many rules.

Taragudrig - January 19, 2006 03:03 AM (GMT)
They are definetly not unbeatable, I have only lost once against them once and it was my first time playing 40k. Still even the store manager in my area calls them "cheesy," then again he also said using an MSU Dark Elves list was "unbeatable and cheap."

Haktar - January 19, 2006 06:01 PM (GMT)
They are ok to play once you know how.... especially with SM. i can wipe the proverbial floor with the necrotyr in a 1500 pretty consistenly.

Grand Seraphim - January 19, 2006 06:10 PM (GMT)
This is what i tell my opponents, yet they still continue to cry cheese at every turn and twist.

Most games we play are 400pts and including 2 wraiths may be a bit cheesy, but at the end of the day if the option is there, i take it :D

Necrons are actually the worst list to make low point lists with that are still legal. The lowest cost is 460 for two min warior squads of 10 and 1 un-upgraded lord. This leaves you with 3 scarabs, 2 warriors or one or possibly 2 really cheap equipment items for you lord. This is one of the biggest disadvantages in the smaller games. Oh and if you want cheese try this list on for size

1 Nightbringer 360
2x11 Warriors 396
1 monolith 235

991

Grand Seraphim - January 20, 2006 05:16 PM (GMT)
Hah hah hah!

That list would die so quickly it would be incredible.

Pearsonally, C'tan are fun to use one off, but in proper battles they are just to slow, and to much of a fire magnet to be used properly. Plus the fact no one would even CONSIDER coming within 12" of it without some seriosuly souped up squad...

Woah, I just started playing necs...weird.

ok it would probs take me 2-3 turns (on average) to clean this army up. monoliths are not indestructable, the warriors can also die easily from HW fire, and nightbringers..... may be a problem. but, nah, kill the warriors and the army is gone, right?

shootyarmies - February 20, 2006 09:17 PM (GMT)
I beat necrons with high elves once, and lost to them as empire the next day. We were doing an odd campaign.

Ironskintribe - February 20, 2006 09:39 PM (GMT)
Hak you would not have a list that could beat that easily if you didn't know that I was bringing this army. If you had one list that you played all opponents with you would get creamed by this army. Especially since I can just suck warriors through the monolith and reroll we'll be backs.
