Mission: Pitched Battle

The Massive form of the Ogre Bruiser enterd the tent. "Oy, yer bloody Bulls. What yer doin in my plannin room?"
"Didnt yer hear Boss?!" Shouted one of the larger Ogres in the room. "We got an entire army worth of them winged things that ave been chasing us about after us! Theyre gonna be ere in a few hourss, me and da bulls just workin on sum tactics!"

The Bruiser stared at the Bull who was talking to him in disbelife before rasing his hand "I told you, leave all the plannings works to me! Im da boss so what i sayz goes! You got it?"
"Yes Boss" they replied sounding like a sorry bunch of children.
"Now gets out of ere, i need to be plannin donna I"
The Bulls slowly marcher out of the room. Before the Bruiser turned to the Butcher sitting in the corner of the room "Right then! Lunch isssit?"
The Butcher turned got up and replied to the Bruiser "I thought you said..."
"I Said i want Lunch!" The bruiser interuppted "And what i sayz goes! Get it?!"

(not my fluff, my friends)

Turn 1 Ogres
The Ogres ran foward full speed, the Gnoblars bickerd, the Ogre Butcher attempt to cast "Brain gobbler" On one of my units but mis cast and lost a wound instead.

The Leadbealchers didnt shoot.

Turn 1 Angels
Angels on the left flank took a flying leap backwards to give there "support" a bit more time to turn up before the Ogres cold close in. Angels on hill readied there ranks by dividing up into 3x4 ranks, the Powers protecting there flank.

Magic phase saw Angelic Blast being dispelled against the bull unit, and me failing to cast Azraels Protection.

Turn 2 Ogres

Gorger didnt turn up.

Ogres charge against Angels on hill, and are out of range. Failed charge, however other bull unit dosent charge and so protects there flank (kinda) Gnoblars bicker again. Leadbealchers advance with there guns.

Ironguts advance and so do Leadbeaclhers. Leadealchers on my right hand flank shoot at powers (which they can just see) but both missfire and end up killing the unit (woo hoo).

Magic phase Ogre attempts to heal himself with a spell, i let it go, but he ends up taking another wound. He tries to cast Bone Cruncher but i disspell it. Nothing else gets off.

Turn 2 Angels
Aneali Turn up! (hooray!) they scatter backward and straight into the rear of the Supporting Bull unit, tying them up for me.

I take full advantage of this and charge the other Bull Ogre unit with my angel unit. I then move the powers foward in order to engage either unit next turn.

On the other flank I get ready to take the charge of the Ironguts, Leadbealchers AND the slavegiant.

Magic phase, the virtue casts Azraels protection on the angel unit with irresistable force, i attempt Angelic blast but it fails to cast.

Combat phase The charging angels are able to pull down one Ogre, while in return the Ogres kill a single angel (yay ward save). In the other combat the angels take a wound off ogres due to Impact Hits, and then a further two wounds, taking down another Ogre. Ogres strike back killing 2 Aneali. Due to combat resolution both units break, and since all of these are charges the Ogres are horribly run down.

Turn 3 Ogres
Gorger still dosent turn up! And, guess what Gnoblars Bicker!

Oh Crap were the words being voiced now, Chris's forces had pretty much been sliced in half. Major Charges from the Ogres into the massive Arch Angel unit, The Iron guts hit home. The Leadbealchers Turn to face the oncoming right flank of the angelic host while the Slave giant charges the angels. Angels pass there terror check.

Ironguts fail there LD check due to the Arch Angels Magic Banner, making them hit on 6's.

In the Magic Phase the Butcher attempts to heal all his wounds again, however he miscasts YET AGAIN and blows up once and for all.

Combat, nad the Ironguts actually fail to hit anything, In return the Archangels pull down one Ogre and Wound another. Combat resolution, and yep, you guessed it. The Ogres Break and are run down by the Archangels.

The Giant is able to do some damage and kill 4 Angels, in return the angels fail to harm the giant. Angels break and are ran down by the giant.

Angels Turn 3
Angelic army wheels round to finish off the remenence of the Tribe.

Arch Angels Charge Leadbealchers.

The Magic phase saw the Virtue cast Angelic Blast at the Giant and take two wounds off of it.

In combat the Arch angels kill both Leadbealchers.

Ogre Turn 4
Gorger Is clearly not hungry and still dosent turn up. Gnoblars (for once) Dont Bicker! And march foward to meet there fate.

The Slavegiant turns around to face the rest of the angelic army, ready to charge the Angels.

Angels Turn 4
Arch Angels Charge Gnoblars, and Angels charge Slave giant. Aneali move around to charge the giant.

Virtues cast Azraels Protection on Angel unit fighting Giant.

Combat sees the giant suffer two wounds, ang the Gnoblars massacred, broken then run down.

The Giant suprisingly cuases no wounds to the angels! (yay ward save)

Ogre Turn 5
We call it game over, the Ogres suffer a massacre.

-Game Points
-Well, Ogres are really really unlucky in this game, i have NEVER think i have seen so many 1's!!!!!!!!!

-Aneali can be very helpful

-I would probably not have botherd with the large unit of Archangels, i should have had them in seperate units for even more manouverability...

Woodpecker - October 27, 2005 10:04 PM (GMT)
Ogres basically lose the few advantages they have in the first place (speedy impact hits, fear) against us. Combined with rolling like THAT, they'll never win.

Grand Seraphim - October 28, 2005 09:52 AM (GMT)
Well, that isent always true. Ogres still move faster than us, which, in fact compromises our manouverability advantage (there faster than us).

I think the main factor in this game was how unlucky my opponent was.

(sighs) the gods of the dice must not have favoured him that day...

Prince Senlaith - October 28, 2005 11:48 AM (GMT)
Aside from the fact that the diagram is too small to read, everything seems to be fine. It really was just down to luck that the Ogre player lost.

HeavensMessiah - October 28, 2005 01:19 PM (GMT)
I hope the Ogre person I play has as much bad luck.

Grand Seraphim - October 28, 2005 05:33 PM (GMT)
Grr, stupid map.

How did you make yours Bigger prince?

Clavix - October 29, 2005 08:01 PM (GMT)
Good report and battle. Yay dice gods!

Baranthazul - October 29, 2005 08:14 PM (GMT)
How have I not commented on this yet. SO LUCKY. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO LUCKY. It sounded like a close game, if not for the dices being...... interesting.
