Can it be done? A Slaan 2k list thats not cheesey or over magicky and is fun to play against and with.
My list:
4th gen slaan; plaque of dominion, plaque of tepok and the diadem
Skink Priest; level 2, 2 scrolls, scout
Scar-Vet; Jag charm, GW, Light Armor, Shield, Sotek, Quetzl

20 Saurus, FC
3x10 scouting skinks, 10 with javs/shields, 20 with blowpipes

6 Cold One Riders
4 Kroxies

16 Saurus, Tlazcotl, or the unbreakable thing, Quetzl.


Basic tactics are just put the skinks where they're needed. I had 10 left over points, and thought that the jav/shield skinks could scout, if they needed too, or just prevent scouts/skirmishers from causing mayhem between my slann block and my normal block. The CoR and the Kroxes will each guard a flank, with the JSOD causing mayhem with warmachines, lone mages, small archer units, chariots, treekin, or anything that could hurt me.

Is it cheesey? Is it decent?

Intresting list Baran. I like the 2 spawnings unit, you dont see many. And there pretty cool combo to.

Could i beat it? Yep. But hey, im a tactical mastermind :D (or so they say).

Realistically you dont have enough Saraus, i mean 2 blocks, one taking up a rare choice? No matter how many skinks you are gonna be throwing about it is probable you will be flanked with this army. Best advise is to set up in a refused flank position.

Dont rely on your Slann to win the game for you. Ever. Belive me i have seen THE beardiest 2k Slann list (2nd Gen, full magic items, army battle standard with most expenisve standard!) and i wiped the floor with it. (heh heh, Yhetees are fun...)

Pearsonally i like blocks of 12 or 16 Saraus, so im not sure about a unit of 20. Its hard, but if you are charged in the flank, well thats that over.

Its an intresting list, and good luck with it. It will be intresting to see how things turn out.

Well, I'm thinking of switching the 2 spawning saurus for plain old Temple Guard. I was under the impression that Immune to psych included being unbreakable, not unbreakable being immune to psych.
Also, if you opponent has an anvil, I'd beat it, because the anvil is most useful as a paper weight. And I get about 9 pd (with diadem).
And the thing about not so many saurus is that....... well I don't want to paint many more :blink: . I also don't see what I can take out for more.
If I get more, I could run two units of 15, one of 16+slaan TG. Any ideas of how to get 120 points (for more saurus)? I could drop a krox and 1 CoR, which would bring me to 93....

I tried to play a saurus hoard once. After about 16, I got extraordinarily sick of painting them. Sad, because that's my biggest army. :P
