After convincing a mate of mine who has got the Army Deal to lend me the Wood Elf army book i now have it sitting in front of me.

I have read it cover to cover, and i still hate elves. However i think out of the three Wood Elves fall into the category of "not so bad" (belive me, this is undeard of when i talk of elve).

The army bares more similarities to the high elves (similar spells, magic items etc) but it has been made so the army has to use them completly differently in order to win.

The highlight of the book for me is it is now viable to create an all forest spirit army.

Branchwraith's as new heros can fill your generals spot while Dryads fill out core. Tree-Kin & Treemen cover the special & rare choices.

Plus thanks to the now plastic dryads it is possible to make an army of (sort of) daemonic entities without splashing out all the cash on Metal!

Ask away what you want to know, but remember i cant give away stats of any units, and i only have the book for today, so hurry and get asking.

well, I'm getting the book when it comes out anyway, and i know over half the army rules from the rumours and my WD yesterday, but I'll ask a question anyway......emm.......what do you think of the new Treeman model? Personally, I don't think it looks very good, it just looks like they made a big Dryad...and since Dryads are female and I assume the TreeMAN is male....not so good....but what do you think?

lol, to be honest i prefer the new treeman model.

Sure, Dryads are girls but there all of them are forest spirits and it fits together better.

If you put any of these along side the old models they just wouldnt fit together.

It also looks a lot more dangerous than the old treeman, which to be honest look kinda dodgy (the arm position was just, weird...)

I prefer it to the old one, which sucked, rather like the old dryads, but I still don't like it that much.

Wraithstone
Fimbulwinter Shard
Lamentation of Despairs
Cluster of Radiants
Starfire Arrows
Royal Standard of Ariel

Starfire Arrows: Cause panic if inflinct even a single wound
Cluster of Radiants: +1 DD, Forest spirits only
Royal Standard: I don't remember, maybe cause fear, and MR1 within 12 inches?
Lamentation: One use only, opponent takes Ld test. If they fail, they take d3 wounds.
Wraithstone: Ward save item I think.
Fimbulwinter Shard: I don't remember.

I got the army deal. In my opinon, it's all really cool, and I can't wait to put the models together and field an army of the elves.

Despite the fact that he's a treeMAN, he's going to have nothing that distinguishes him as either sex. We don't want any branches sticking out in certain places do we?

The new book is really good, my friend's got it and the army deal.

Fyndolwinter Shard: enemies are at -1 to hit you and your mount, all forest demons become stupid if within 6 inches of it.

Lamentation allows no saves at all, not even wards, bound L3.

You can make some really good character combos with wood elf highborns now, they can take on a variety of stuff.

Your forest spirit characters can also be treeman ancients, who can have sprites.

Yeah unless you give them half of the kindreds and then they can't take squat in the way of good combinations.
