Title: Masks and witchsight (?)
Grand Seraphim - June 19, 2007 11:26 PM (GMT)
So are these going to be encorprated into the rules at all? If we start to include masks and talk about how they allow angels to see the winds wouldnt that give them a bonus to dispel or something... because they all have a higher perception of the winds. I've been toying with the idea of scrapping Angels even using magic and just assigning units magic resistance (this can help with the idea that angels are creatures of Order, utterly anti chaos).
What do you guys think?

All mages have Witchsight, so really no bonus just fluffy background.

I agree with DA.

But if this happens would characters be able to access Circlets of Banishment? How would additional Dispel Dice be added to the base pool, if at all? What snazzy new character choices would replace Thrones and Virtues? Why the hell did you make me revise Holy Power?
AoAlgebra

Well, people have been complaining about the whole angel magic thing for ages now, i thought a simple way round it would just to scrap it. Instead we keep the base 2 dispel dice, then assign individual units MR (as opposed to dwarves who increase their base).
Circlets would still be acsessed, Thrones and Virtues can perform a similar role to Runesmiths ie, increased magic item access, extra dice to dispel scroll.
Thoughts?

i advise against the angels not using magic, our purpose is to avenge our fallen god. we care not for magic, the only reason we don't use normal magic is because we have the inability to use it. we only wish to kill the tainted gods they have slain our creator.

And if we drop magic that makes two things that our army lacks which is too big of a disadvantage. We already lack shooting which we decided was a good trade off for our great combat abilities. Losing magic would just be too much. Plus, with the new holy power system it makes it seem as if we draw upon our own spirit energies rather than the winds of chaos for magicial power.

it may seem like that but apparently all magic comes from chaos, even TK's magic, and the most shocking is the Priest's prayers come from chaos. but our magic is like theirs and it comes with on negative repercussions.

Shocking? You must have missed the part where Sigmar was the avatar of Khorne. I say keep magic and, if anything, make it more like normal than it is.

Sigmar is the Avatar of Khorne? Was that sarcasm or have i missed something.
DA, we havent fully established the fluff yet, at the end of the day it can be alterd to suit our own ends (within reason).
Good point Iron about the shooting thing, i hadnt thought about that. Okay, so we keep Holy power magic, case closed.
