Lord
Cherubim
Wings of revenge
Silvered Skin
Heavy Armour
Swordstick
=330pts
-I chose the Cherubim over the throne for a few reasons, he would help out against tough characters like the Tomb King (or possible Bone Giant) and he is a kick ass leader for the troops. Im also not at all a fan of going magic heavy, so he was the natural choice.
Hero
Princedom
Battle Standard
Heavy Armour
Light of Seraphall
=254pts
-My experience with Battle Standards is limited but I thought this would be the prime time to test out what I have learnt with them. Slap bang in the middle of my line he would send out his “Forcefield” over most of the main part of the army, thanks to flight he can quickly redeploy where he is needed. I went for the Light of Seraphall because I knew that the Tomb Kings have an evil evil magic phase and I thought a dispel scroll a turn would help out the caddies.

-These guys are your basic scroll caddies, I don’t like magic heavy but I need the defence, especially in the bigger games.
Dominion

Eagle Quills

-War machine hunter/Chariot slayer. Both of what the TK are famous for, I expected a few screaming skulls to be hanging around so he would get stuck in and tear them apart before going chariot hunting.

-Big unit, lots of points, big target. On the plus they should be able to draw a lot of fire away from the rest of my army, and if they get into combat, well, the enemy will be sorry.

-We played the rather odd game size of 3250pts, why you ask? For science! (okay, bad joke). The battle itself was a rather interesting experience.
The angels seemed to have the early advantage, with the Casket of souls failing to kill anything for two turns straight (and it was on a damn hill). My dominion saw it off but was then counter charged (and due to a set of fluky rolls) the Carrion tore him to shreds.
The battle in the centre was epic, the Cherubim (fittingly) faced off with the Tomb King and also (fittingly) tore the mummy to shreads. The problem was that every angel that was killed was a huge loss, while the TK could keep replenishing his troops (Most of my dispel scrolls were going to prevent flank charges etc). Fear did not prove much of a problem and I performed slightly above par with my Ld tests.
The bone giant caused huge problems when it tore through my armies flank with nothing able to stop it. The powers counter charged, fumbled their attacks and were duly crushed. I was able to bring it down thanks to a lucky Angelic blast in the 6th turn but the damage had been done. Half of my army lay in ruins, although he had lost a few key characters (TK, 2 liche priests) and all of his archer units only one of his centre units had fallen while most of mine were well under half strength.
This lead to the rather disappointing result of a Minor TK victory.

~cough~ Illegal ~cough~ Firstly, it's "Circlet of Banishment" :P secondly, it's 20 points, not 25, and thirdly, it's one per Virtue.
Otherwise seems like a pretty sound battle, pity you lost, but can't win them all. I would have been tempted to go for more skirmishy-offensive units, but that's just my playstyle. Pretty solid list, despite the major points-sink in the Cherubai/Cherubim unit.
Also, any mistakes you'll learn from?
AoAlgebra
Yeah, the lack of shooting can really be a kick in the groin for Angels (yeah, circlet of banishment, watever blah blah blah :P)
Major mistakes? Not taking any skirmishy units, Vengances would have been a huge help, but i like my big blocks of infantry. Also kill Bone giants. FAST.
Somthing which suprised me was just how fragile the angel army was, T3 really does get to you badly, espeically undead where every combat is going to be prolonged.
I think we might need to re-evaluate Cherubai, they really do not outperform an Archangel unit in many ways.
More later.

biggest problem of many all infantry lists is that there isnt much difference between the different units
though I do feel that they have the extra punch a good support unit needs 2 S5 attacks is nice on paper that is
A quick bit of math shows that it should make a fair bit of differnce.
Standard angels vs Tk skellie
Say that both units are arranged 5 in front (no champs), thats 5 S3 attacks
2/3 of angelic attacks will hit (3.333 r) and then 50% will wound (1.666 r).
Cherubai 2/3 of attacks will hit (thats 6.6666) and then 5/6 of those attacks will wound (S5) (5.55555). That is somthing like 5x more effective than a normal angel unit, so after re-evaluating this i think that the unit just performed badly this game. Put up against Tomb Guard and a tomb king bad luck probably played a part in the the to hit rolls thus leading to them lacking in effectivness.
Still they cost a hell of a lot for a fully ranked up block of 20.
