i got a call from my unit today and they askd me if i will volunteer to go to iraq!!! what should i do? on one hand its tons of money and mad benifits when i get back and on the other hand it is the possibility of getting killed by october!!
its a life altering descision and i want input fromm all my friends before i make a final desicision.

I do agree with pixie, you do really need to follow your heart and do what is in your best interest. It is a very difficult decision to make. May talk to some of your family and RL life friends and see if they have anything to say.

Here's my opinion. No. I strongly disagree with most wars, and especially THIS one. No I'm not a hippie, but that's just my opinion. I'm not going to go deeply into that. I would not go to Iraq. You would be in some country where nobody knows you, many despise you, and death is right around the corner. You may come home with honor, for serving your country, but is that really worth your life? Or your legs? Or your Hands? Living physically handicapped would be like a living hell for me. I don't know about you.

If you stay in 1 part of Iraq you might as well not stay at all. The Iraqis Aren't Idiots. If America was centered in 1 part of that country then all opposition would just avoid that spot. What good would that do?

Do you know that the nuclear threat to America from Iraq, Iran, North Korea, and any other country harboring nuclear weapons in southern Asia is 10 times smaller than the threat from Russia? A few words advice:

Stay away from city centres (that’s where most violence are). Don't try to be nice with the civilians, even if there are just kids, stay away from the population and don't look in their eyes. Be vigilant at all times, strange cars, group of people etc...

Never let your guard down, sleep in day time and stay awake in night. In day time it is very hot and you will have difficulties to move. In evening the air is much colder you will be more alert.

Don't involve in guarding officials nor escorting them in cars, negotiate your post before you sign in anything, like you want to be at the camp as a guard ( guards at camps is a safer position). Even a suicide bomber will have difficulties to get through the check points between the road and your camp, so stay in the camp.

Take lots of books and a psp with a few rpg games, you will get very bored. never take your helmet and have always you gun with you at all time, make friends and built a strong friendship with one of them, so he can watch your back and you his, a soldier on its one is a died soldier.


If you didn’t go there, then good for you, there are other ways to serve your country than going in a useless war that costs many of the coalition soldiers to die.


This war started because Bush have strong ties with the Bin laden family and he probably made a deal with them to not pursue their son (The Mr Bin Laden that organised 9/11) in the mountains of Afghanistan, and let them escape the blitz attack from US forces. The proof of this, is that there are now twice as more Talibans fighters than before and they use excellent fighting equipment to kill British and US soldiers posted there (where does the money come from? Probably his rich daddy or his brothers).

Bush has a oil company and there is no doubt that he probably made a few interesting deals with the Bin Laden family. By using Iraq as a smoke screen he could concentrate all the hatred from the US population into one man Sadam Hussein. Sure he is a butcher and sure He needed a good kick butt, but they should have let the UN deal with the guy, going solo with Britain was very foolish and dangerous.

However,I support the solders there, it's not there fault, they just do their duty and I am proud of them.

The guys a puke on are the greedy government officials that don’t give a radish if civilians and soldiers alike dies, as long as they secure oil and other business deals for their family business operations.

The Russian stockpile is basically free samples of weapons of mass destruction to anyone who wants to drive up there and take a few. And yes, Russia has the capability to launch nuclear weapons, not all, but enough to destroy America.

It's true for the weed but alchol is in most places banned. Moreover, army bases follow US laws and if you get cought smoking pot you will get court martialed and then send to prison. :(


They don't joke with kind of stuff, so thats mean if you had to go there you will probably finish not smoking weed and drink alchool for the rest of your service there...and more importantly you could get killed :S.
