CONGRATULATIONS
to everyone on this list (and to all those not quite on the list!) and a huge thank you for turning up, registering, reading the discussions, adding your twopenneth, and generally supporting this new Poets On Fire forum since it was launched in April.
Without this continuing support, the forum will not be able to keep going. Because even though I am quite verbal and insane enough to keep posting at the rate of c. 80 posts a fortnight, I still can't make a forum all on my own. I need the rest of you to help me create a community and to keep that community moving and growing and, above all, talking.
So many thanks to everyone who's joined the forum and to those who are working with me to make it a community of people interested in - and mostly also practising - live poetry.
Support live poetry!
:D

Thanks for making me a Moderator on these forums, Jane! :D
To add to your Top 10 Posters topic, here's the breakdown for our member ranking:
Live Poetry Virgin = 0 - 10 posts
Mad for the Mic = 10 - 30 posts
Seasoned Performer = 30 - 50 posts
Poetry MC = 50 + posts
I haven't managed to post very often - in the middle of exams!!! - but I am aiming to get past the Live Poetry Virgin rank.
:P
Jane Holland - May 9, 2006 11:30 PM (GMT)
Thanks for that, Becky. Keep posting, you'll lose your virginity in the end. ;)
I just thought I'd add to that excellent list by telling the world I've invented a brand-new posting category now, as I reach the 100th post mark myself and feel like marking the occasion, even though the title doesn't actually come up on my own posts. Life's tough for the Administrator.
Anyway, it's for those who achieve over 100 posts and it's called
This Mic's Red Hot!
Though at the rate everyone's posting, I may be the only person able to wear that distinction for quite some time to come ... several years, perhaps. :D

Dear Jane,
I've just noticed that there is a birthday slot at the bottom of the page. As you have access to posters birthdates, are there any interesting poetic clusters around Aquarius or any other of the 'creative signs'? Is there any grouping at all and under which sign? Surely this is an opportunity to prove or dismiss astrology altogether ... (ps I've been told to 'chill' at the 'other place' so thought I'd come here and dicuss less emotive issues.)
Jane Holland - May 12, 2006 07:43 PM (GMT)
To be honest, I haven't looked! But it only works if people have admitted to their birthdates - and given the correct date. I don't think I even put mine up.
But I am a 100% believer in astrology, having studied it to quite a high level when I was younger - with the FAS in London (not to be confused with the SAS) - and I don't think my Sun in Scorpio has much bearing on my net activity, except that I do like to hide behind various personae and play mental games with people. My net activities are connected more to my eleventh house stellium of Uranus, Pluto and Mars all conjunct in Virgo, and directly opposed to Saturn. I won't bore people with the implications of such an interesting placement, except to say that it basically means I'm very good at firing up communities and associations of people, and also very good at subsequently getting fired by them.
I think my 'disreputable' personal history in the snooker world - founding an association and later getting banned for life from it - bears that analysis out pretty well ...

Well - that's two Scorpios then. I have much inter-planetry activity too ... though they all seem to off set each other so that inertia sets in at the earliest opportunity. I have the old scorpio struggle between head and heart in spades .... the head has just about learnt to play a good enough game with the heart to keep things ticking over in the last few years.
Jane Holland - May 12, 2006 11:13 PM (GMT)
Typical Scorpio. I check your profile and hey presto, no birthdate! Yet you want to know all the stats on other members ...
:D
Jane Holland - May 12, 2006 11:17 PM (GMT)
By the way, when you say you were told to chill at the Other Place, do you mean you were told to 'chill' on that particular thread - I did see that, I think - or did someone actually PM you and tell you to cool down?
Sniffs air excitedly. ;)
Neen - May 13, 2006 09:51 AM (GMT)
No - no one PMd me: the 'chill' probably wasn't directed only to me but happened to appear directly after a post in which I had been particularly shirty about 'poetry V. sexism' in the google search stakes. Sorry I didn't fill in my stats correctly! I was probably feeling sensitive about my age. I'll try to do it now.
Jane Holland - May 13, 2006 10:11 AM (GMT)
Feeling sensitive about your age? Are you kidding? I'm much older than you!
I didn't post my age on my profile because I'm worried about identity theft. It's okay if you're posting under an incognito name but this is my real name, which makes it a little bit dangerous to give away sensitive information like my date of birth. But I'm four years older than you.
So chill!
;)

I've seen the posting figures and it's official! Dreadlockalien has lost his virginity!
Better get you off to the clinic ....

Two "master"s there... sloppy.
Might have gotten away with it on stage...

I've just been reading the 'top 10 posters' figures and things have certainly changed since last month. I wish I had more time to browse this forum but it's been insane at work recently. Must be the heat. I'll try to post more often though. Well done Dreadlockalien for losing your virginity. I remember when I lost mine, it was so exciting! But maybe Jane didn't mean it quite like that.
Jane Holland - June 24, 2006 10:27 PM (GMT)
Where is everyone? Come on back to the forum, girls & boys, the heat may be on outside but the poetry's still going on in here. Or is everyone hard at work writing and performing?
You mean, like I should be?! :o
