Rik, I hear what you're saying but I already addressed the advert issue in one of my stickies in the ex-Poem Forum section. I can certainly look into blocking selected advertisers, but from what I've seen of the 'rules', you have to pay to have adverts removed or blocked, and I'm not in a position to do that. And attempting to block adverts without paying for the privilege is listed as a reason for having your forum 'deleted' by Invision, the owners.
Frankly, anyone posting here should already realise that adverts like that are not from bona fide poetry organisations. If I could win $10,000 every day with my poems, I wouldn't be stuck here, posting on this forum. I'd be relaxing somewhere on the Med. and planning my next move toward world domination.
But you're right. Parasitic 'poetry companies' who lure innocent wannabe poetry writers into their traps should be expunged from the face of the world. I'll leave it up to you to write to the relevant authorities. Sorry not to be more sympathetic but the 'real world' is full of traps for the unwary too. Glamour modelling. Email banking scams. Fake holiday offers. I'm not here to hold newbies' hands as they discover what's out there in poetry. I'm here to moderate posts and keep dialogue flowing.
