Just a thought. I know there are pop-up adverts on this site but I never see them because my Firefox browser is set to suppress pop-up windows.
It might be a good idea, if you have the facility to do so, to check your browser Preferences and set it to block pop-up windows. That way they won't annoy you when you're trying to post on these message boards.
The only way to get rid of them otherwise is to pay, I'm afraid. But if they're really bothering you to the point where you don't want to post here, let me know. PM me about it.

Last night, in a lull between songs on my headphones, I heard a vague rambling voice from the computer. I suspect it may have been an audio advert. I had the POF forum open at the time, amongst other windows, and am not sure if it came from here, or another place. But it's the first time I've heard anything like it and I was alarmed!
Has anyone else heard one of these ubiquitous adverts actually speaking to them on here? If so, let me know.
Rik Roots has also suggested that I draw your attention to this
Wikipedia article about Poetry dot com, one of the chief advertisers on this site, and warn you to be vigilant if replying to advertisements here - which are not in any way connected to or approved by me.

The easiest thing to do is download firefox and use it instead of Internet Explorer. It is entirely free and when one did an internet course last year, our tutor said 90% of people use IE, and so most of the hackers and spammers write code to break into IE, whereas Fireofx is by far much more secure, plus the hackers tend not to target it.
Here is the site to download for free. It takes about 10 minutes from start to finish.

The post caught my eye. Never get your software from anywhere but the official site for security reasons- the link in the post is dubious (http://www.4-free.cc/mozilla-nz.html).
The official sites for firefox are:
www.mozilla.comwww.mozilla.orgwww.getfirefox.com - redirects but still an official site
Thanks Paul. I'm knackered at the moment - just back from a writing course - but will remove that Ovid post soon - if Angela hasn't already done so - before it causes any mischief.
