Description: Back online on 4th July

Chris Hamilton-Emery - June 21, 2008 09:59 AM (GMT)
Excuse this public posting here, but the Salt office is offline until 4th July, when we get broadband in the new premises. If anyone needs me for urgent poetry related things, I'll be contactable on my mobile 0791 772 5083. The new mailing address is 14a High Street, Fulbourn, Cambridge CB21 5DH.

All best
Chris

We're in! Phew, eight years' worth of papers, equipment and stocks now housed in a suite of offices in currently sunny Fulbourn, and after smashing £1,000 of IT (oops) losing broadband at home and work, we've now regained broadband in the offices and are open for business again.

I've no computer for now, so production has ground to a halt, but hope to rectify that soon through insurance claims.

Katy's book is published!!!! Everyone cheer. It's gorgeous, too.

Hope to catch up with the 2,000 non-junk emails over the next few days. Thanks to everyone for the late offers in the POF Salt competition, more on that shortly. Thanks for the backchannel enquiries and the tremendous support many have shown for new writers. I'm going to develop the competition into something annual, but I think I'll run that off the Salt Web site and I'll make the rules clearer but hopefully just as open. I'm putting my thinking cap on about that.

We've still oodles of unpacking to do, but the offices are open and we really hope that people will come and call in. The building is opened up between 9.30 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. Office number is 01223 882220. We're going to be holding an office party! So I'll talk about that next month.

We've been through a tricky period in lots of ways, but we've decided to expand the list and will be publishing more in the UK in the coming years and are moving into crime fiction, too. We'll be hiring staff shortly and will be offering internships to anyone capable of selling books. We'll be feeding back shortly on those people who have applied for the editorial roles in Wales and Scotland as well.

Give us a fortnight and we'll be firmly back in business.

For now, do check out Katy's book, it's really, really good.
