| Detroit News: DETROIT -- On the eve of Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick's resignation, several top-name candidates picked up petitions this week to campaign for mayor, including Wayne County Sheriff Warren C. Evans. Evans, who filed to pull petitions Thursday, joins former City Councilman Rev. Nicholas Hood III, businessman and former Detroit Pistons great Dave Bing and former deputy mayor and mayoral candidate Freman Hendrix, who filed Wednesday. Former Detroit Police Chief Benny Napoleon said Thursday that he has already pulled his petitions. |
