1. Well, after you have the images you want the rain to appear on, first make a new layer and use Edit>Fill and fill it with black.

2. Then go to Filter>Noise>Add Noise and use the settings 100%, Uniform, Monochromatic.

3. Then Filter>Blur>Motion blur and use -63 angle and 15 px distance, of course you can change these a bit, but it gives a good look.

4. Then set the rain layers mode to Lighten, Screen, whatever gives you the best look, it usually depends on the background color, I used Soft Light.

5. Repeat steps 1-4 four times. After picking a layer mode don't change any layer to a different mode! That makes more for a lightning effect. If you get confused when image gets darker, hide the layer beneath the one you are making by clicking the eye button.

6. Then hide all the rain layers and go to File>Edit in ImageReady(Ctrl+Shift+M)

7. In the animation window click "Duplicate Frame" 4 times.

8. Select the first frame in the animation window and then on the right of the screen in the layers menu, un-hide the first rain layer, then in the second layer, hide the first rain layer and un-hide the seond rain layer, continue this on all rain layers and frames.

9. After putting the rain on each frame, under each frame should a little box that says, "0 sec." right click this on each frame and click .1 seconds.

10. In case it isn't already correct, directly underneath the first frame is a box that will either say "Once" or "Forever" make sure it's set to forever.

11. Click play to make sure your animation works.

12. Go to File>Save Optimized As, and save it.

That's it.

I have a question: I did the tutorial, and it looks just fine when i play it in image ready. However, when I put it up on photobucket, and when i post it, it flickers with weird static. Just curious if its something I did, or perhaps something else. Thanks.

This is what it looks like messed up.

EDIT: I fixed it, changed a preset to GIF 128 no dither....not sure if thats it or not, but it fixed it <shrugs>. :D

only thing i can say is next time add pictures because for beginners it is kinda hard to understand and pictures would help them see if their doing it right

good job though :P
