Title: Movies
Description: Is it good or bad

Aryk - July 13, 2005 06:35 AM (GMT)
I am starting a movie post. I thought there was one here, started by Huggle, umm, I mean Merlex. What movies have you seen lately? The Big Screen or DVD. Give it a rating from 1 to 5. 5 being the best movie.

For instance, I just saw Troy on VOD. I would say it was a 3. Not the best movie I have ever seen but if it is on, then sit down and watch it.

I,Robot on VOD. I give it a 4 for fun. I like the movie and watch it when ever it is on.

Look, another reason to post.

Now where to begin.

Jessica Alba is just not right for Sue Storm. She just isn't convincing. She delivers her lines like she's reading them off cue cards or something. But also Julian McMahon (Doctor Doom/Victor Von Doom) isn't right either, he's too busy acting suave to be menacing. In this movie he's just another jealous guy in a mask.

On other hand, three of the Fantastic Four are good. Chris Evans (Who also is very cute :P ) does a good job playing Johnny Storm. He's my favorite out of the 4, funny yet mean. Although he does need to grow up sooner or later (later of course B) )

Michael Chiklis (Ben Grimm/Thing) steals nearly every scene he's in. And also his subplot with the conflicted emotions about his appearance works well.

and last but not least, Ioan Gruffudd (Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic). Let's just face it, hes the geek of the group and underplays his part, allowing Reed to remain in the background until he's forced into the spotlight.

Now about that love triangle between Reed, Sue, and Victor. That just doesn't work. I mean yeah sure, Sue and Victor have some nice scences, but adding Reed into the pot doesn't work whatsoever.

But now that's not all that's wrong with our Dr. Doom. He's a villain without a credible motivation. Are we supposed to believe that he wants to rule the world because he's jealous of Reed and having no luck in biss? I highly doubt Dr Doom i motivated by that.

The Fantastic Four has its good points. There are the individual scenes that really do work.
Example:
Ben's talk with a suicide victim and his meeting with Alicia (Even though it was sad).

The special effects are alright.

Theres good team work in the final battle, it contains a little bit of a surprise and excitment keeping you on the end of your seat. Although it comes too quickly and there really is no build-up for suspense.

The Fantastic Four seems like it was made for twelve year old girls sortof, not like the other marval films.

But still. It was a good film even with all its flaws and I would happily see it again. (If you haven't seen It, I suggest do...

PS: I saw the first showing *dances* and btw did I do this right lol?

A passionate, dazzling, emotionally moving love story set amidst lavish backgrounds, “The Phantom of the Opera” is as great to look at as it is to listen to. I sometimes have found myself putting it in just to listen to while on the computer-or cleaning.

But now about those characters-The depths of some seemd to have been lost from the stage to the screen. But it stlill magical and inspiring on its own.

Gerard Butler was a wonderful Phantom. He is truly sexier-than-should-be-legal. I know I who’d love to be locked away in a dungeon with him as the Phantom. :P -Well lets not mention I was in love with his voice and always got my attention when he was on screen.

Patrick Wilson (Raoul), he might be handsome to others but he really is no contest in my choice. If it was between Butler and Wilson, Butler would win. Wilson lakes in the mysterous, just plan hot sort of way. He seems to much as a "christian boy".

Emmy Rossum (Christine). I'll admit, she's very pretty and does have a good voice while singing. But for some reason I just don't see her as playing the part "Christine". I was thinking about this for awhile, and I just can't fit in why I don't think she's the right one for the part. But still, she did a good job so I wont complain much. B)

Now, I know that the Phantom of the Opera has gotten a few bad reviews, and I believe its on the Worst Films list. But I still enjoyed the film. I'll admit it was boring at the biginnning, but like I said, the Phantom always caught my eye and kept it there. If you didn't know, I'm also a fan of musicals, and this was just another to add into the pot.

The music from the film was inspiring, I have written so many stories by just listening to the songs alone!

This film, also gives a new look at the Phantom-in 2004 I was introduced to the phantom in my English class, which is what made me have to see the newest version.
I was memorized by its story in the class, and wanted to see this new film that I had heard of and we spent weeks reading the script.

After seeing the film-I admit the first time is the best time. I watched it and couldn't take my eyes away from the screen. Not many films can make me keep my intrest all the way to the end.

I found it very clever with the "flashback" of telling the tail. And I'll admit I was glad to see the rose at the end on the gravestone. B)

But all and all. I liked the phantom of the opera-ignoring all the peoples horrible remarks to the film. It captured my heart once again.

I highly suggest to all opera fans out there. The phantom of the operas song is stuck in my head every time I see it-and sometimes even when I haven't seen it in weeks.

It's a great movie. Now go watch it! :P

Welll... where do I start?

FMA/FullMetal Alchemist
"After losing their mother, Alphonse and Edward Elric attempt to bring her back using the forbidden science of human alchemy. However, alchemy operates on the theory of equivalent trade, and breaking the human alchemy taboo carries a heavy price. Ed loses his leg, and Al loses his body. Ed is able to seal Al’s soul inside of a huge suit of armor, at the cost of his arm. Years later, Ed (now with two mechanical limbs) and Al (still trapped in the armor) leave their childhood home, each brother concerned with the other’s happiness. Ed, who has a natural talent and skill for alchemy, becomes nationally certified and is soon known everywhere as the "Fullmetal Alchemist." Their true objective is to search for any information on the fabled Philosopher’s Stone, hoping it will allow them to regain their old bodies. All of their hopes rest with this mythical stone, which may not even exist at all. However, the brothers soon learn that they are not the only ones after the powerful stone."

Paranoia Agent
A mysterous boy on rollerblades is attacking people on rollerblades with a golden bat. These "Victims" live strange and distubing lives but after they're attack, they're free of it.
http://www.paranoiaagent.com/#
For example. There was this one about a Hooker and a woman who just wanted to live her own life. she lived two lives (Not that she wanted to) She would leave herself messages on her phone and call her self. When she got home she knew that the "other her" was still there when seeing the little red button flashing.
It was the first show I saw of Paranoia Agent, and wouldn't be my last. The storys are so intresting and weird. I mean the introduction to the film and ending are kindof weird-all the victims laughing and then fading into a distance. Kindof freaky, but I enjoy this how most of all. Theres also a movie of this I believe. I have yet to see it. ;)

Inuyasha
"Kagome Higurashi is a modern day young girl who lives with her family by the old Higure shrine. Unbeknownst to Kagome, she is the reincarnation of priestess Kikyo and possesses the "Jewel of Four Souls." One ill-fated day, Kagome locates an ancient well near her home and is abruptly transported through the well and into a feudal Japan, inhabited by demons and goblins. There, she encounters Inuyasha, son of a powerful demon father and a human mother, who is pinned to a tree by an enchanted arrow.
Kagome frees Inuyasha from the tree before she learns that all of the demons, including Inuyasha, are after the Jewel in her possession. To prevent the Jewel from being stolen, Kagome accidentally shoots it with the enchanted arrow, shattering it into thousands of pieces. The evil Naraku also seeks the Jewel for his own reasons. New allies Kagome and Inuyasha join forces with Shippo, a small fox-demon, Miroku, a priest and Sango, the sole surviving demon-hunter, in order to combat Naraku and recover the fragments of the "Jewel of Four Souls". But that's just just the tip of the iceberg."

Cowboy Bebop
Spike Spiegel and Jet Black, onboard the ship Bebop, try to deal with women, children, dogs and demons from their pasts, as well as survive long enough to make a few bucks.-It's about Bounty Hunters btw lol.

Trigun
I really enjoyed Vash's ability to go from serious, to comedic in 2 seconds flat. This is a great series that I think has something to please most everyone. The art is good, nothing spectacular. The characters and story are unique and lovable. The only drawback is the series ends before the story dictates it should, so you are left thinking there should be more. In spite of that, it's a series worth seeing. It's a western though guys lol.

Well my hand hurts, so that's enough for right now :P
Theres more...But those should be fine *waves hand* lol if you have "Cartoon Network" all these shows are on Adult Swim.

If you like comedys then check out Kung Pow
Its an old 70's martial art movie remastered with new scenes and very much over dubbed its ridicoulously funny.

A legendary warrior named "The Chosen One"(Steve Oedekerk also the writer/director) wanders the countryside in search of the murderous Master Pain(a.k.a Betty) who killed his family when he was just a baby. *sobs*
