A Long-Expected Arrival

It was a chilly August night. Clouds rose off into the distance, as I entered the Quiet realm of Pacifica. I crept silently through still streets, not knowing exactly what I was getting into. I was only wearing a simple robe and a hat that I had found. Quickly and decisively, I made my way to the bank of the town, where a warrior stood resting. Though it was late, the torches were still lit around the streets and in the small windows of the buildings. The strange warrior sat there as I raced back and forth scanning and scouting the area, unsure what was around each corner.
As I approached him again I tried to stealth by without disturbing him. His eyes glanced over toward me; I stopped right in my tracks as he cleared his throat.

“Hi” He said in a warm and welcoming voice.

“Hi.” I replied back rubbing my hands together to keep warm.

Not trusting myself to speak openly, I giggled silently to myself as we talked. The warrior was wrapped in warm wool; he was swift and stealthy when he moved. His eyes were piercing with knowledge. “Come” He replied after only a few seconds of chatting. He walked toward the bridge of the town leading me to his home. His companion, a brave stallion, was magnificent in his simple beauty. When we arrived to his small palace he told me to stay put for a moment. So I did. I wrapped my robe tighter around me to warm up.

It was then my adventure began. I was given many gifts from the strange man and also was led to unspeakable dangers against these strange sand beetles near his home. I attempted to blast ten of these monsters into oblivion for a small award from one of the town’s people.

For days to come, I would whisper and wonder about the strange people in the world. Who were they? Why did they choose, of all places, Pacifica? It certainly wasn’t the most popular realm to choose. But perhaps the biggest mystery of all was why, after a long, and unproductive day, would I enter the quiet realm, and take it as my home?
