Name: Ville Hermanni Valo
DOB: (born November 22, 1976)
occupation:is the vocalist, songwriter and frontman of the Finnish band HIM


HIM was founded by Ville in 1996, with four friends and have since gone on to enjoy success across Europe and the US. He currently lives in Finland and is known to be friends with skateboarder and 'Jackass', Bam Margera.

The somber and often introverted Valo, has drawn comparisions to Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain and Jim Morrison of The Doors (whom Ville played in The 69 Eyes video 'Wasting The Dawn'). Ville Valo's first musical step was as a three year old bongo drummer. Aged nine, Valo attended the Pop and Jazz Conservatory in Helsinki, where he studied several different musical genres. Soon after his birth his family moved to the riverside community of Oulunkylä, where his father eventually opened a wood shop; during his late teens Ville spent a period working in the shop before launching his career in music.

As a child he was influenced by his music-loving parents, who exposed him to the songs of popular Finnish performers such as Tapio Rautavaara and Rauli Badding Somerjoki, while an older cousin introduced him to the heavier sounds of bands like Kiss, Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden. His interests gradually expanded to include reggae, early blues and country-oriented material such as Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and Neil Young. From a young age, Valo's enthusiasm for music also took a more active form of expression, and he participated in a large number of different Helsinki-based bands: B.L.O.O.D. (1986-89), Eloveena Boys (1987-88), Kemoterapia (1989-97) and numerous other, more obscure projects.

And here is my weird trivia that I'm all happy about -

In the one shot Ville is sitting on a bench in front of a castle like house.
It is called, Fonthill and is in Doylestown, PA, USA. It was built by Henry Chapman Mercer in 1914 and is a totaly awesome place. I used to work just across from it at Henry Mercers' Moravian Pottery and Tile Works (it was the coolest job I ever had) B) He also built a huge museum on the other side of town. Both his other building are also very castle like. If you ever find youself in theat part of the world I strongly recomend you visit there. I'll see if they have a website now and post a link.

I can so see them loving this place. Bam lives maybe an hour to hour and a half away from it so probably grew up going there with school trips like I did. hugz heartbeat

Ok, I'll post my story:
Let me just start by saying: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! (I always have to get that out of the way when I'm telling this.)
My 20th birthday was the best birthday by far! I have never had a birthday quite like it. Everything having to do with my birthday had gone quite smoothly and surpassed my expectations since I always have something go wrong with my birthday.
Ok, so, the concert was on a Monday and my friend Shavon stayed the night Sunday. We had a girly sleep over picking out our outfits, painting nails, etc. (By the way, I wore black leather pants, a black tank top with these cool sleeves and skulls and crossbones on safty pins going down one side with my corset boots.) My best friend Mike came and picked us up the next afternoon. We got to Norfolk around 2 in the afternoon. The ticket window wasn't open yet, so we headed over to the mall across the street. We shopped around for a while and discovered this Chuckie-Cheese like place with little amusement park rides and cool games. I challenged Mike to a game of air hockey and I kicked his butt. Then we played ski-ball for about an hour.
At around 3:30, we headed over to see if the ticket window was open. It wasn't, so Mike suggested we check on the reservations at the Backstage Tavern. (If you make special reservations with these people, they take you in backstage 15 minutes before other ticket holders.) They said they could seat us then and there, but we didn't want to because we still had to get our tickets. They told us that we could pick up the tickets there and so we decided to go ahead and eat. About an hour later, I had to use the restroom really bad (lady problems ;) ) and there was a HUGE line out the door of the ladies room. I talked to one of the hostesess there (more like begging now that I think about it) and she understood, so she took me into the club to use the bathroom. On my way out of the bathroom, I ran into none other than BAM freaking MARGERA HIMSELF!!! I apologized for running into him and explained why I was in the club so early. He was totally cool about the whole thing and I told him it was nice to meet him and that I was there for my birthday. He wished me happy birthday and GAVE ME A HUG!!!
Then I told Bam that I felt stupid for asking, but I asked if it would be possible if I could meet Ville because that would totally make my birthday. He went over and talked to someone who worked there and then he told me to follow him. I couldn't believe it! :faint: He took me into the green room or the dressing room, whatever you want to call it and there was the man himself along with Mige and Burton! (No clue where Linde and Gas were.) Bam told them it was my birthday and Ville GAVE ME A HUG AND A KISS ON THE CHEEK and told me happy birthday in that drop dead gorgeous accent!!!! I told him ditto since his birthday was the next day. Mige and Burton each gave me hugs too and told me happy birthday. Ville apologized for the absence of his other 2 bandmates, but I didn't care. Hello! Ville was talking to me! (Dude, Ville is so tall in person! I'm so short in person, but Ville is TALL!) Unfortunately, we couldn't chat it up because they had to go do something on stage. Sound check, I think. I wanted to take pictures, but Shavon had my camera in her purse because it wouldn't fit in mine and she was back in the restaurant. I didn't even think about getting any autographs because I couldn't believe this was happening to me. Besides, I love them, but not enough to ruin my clothes by having them sign my shirt. (I don't think it would have shown up anyway since I was wearing all black.) I got a hug from each of them again and then I headed back to the restaurant.
Mike and Shavon were like :o when I told them why I had been gone so long. They didn't believe me at first (and to tell you the truth, I didn't believe it myself!). Then we got in and got to our awesome seats. Fireball Ministry was on first. They rocked it. Then Finch came on. They took forever and had a lot of technical difficulties and they weren't very good. Then Skindred came on. They were AWESOME! They really rocked the house. Them Bam came out and announced that he was showing a video before H.I.M. came out. While we were watching the video, some chick yelled "I want my money back, if I wanted to see a movie, I'd go to the theatre." It pissed me off because I liked the video (It was the making of Dark Light and other random moments of VAM), so I yelled back "Patience is a f**king virtue!" Bam was standing on the side of the stage we were near and he heard me and looked up and realized who I was and he gave me the rock on sign and waved.
Then, came H.I.M.!!!!!! They rocked it out! rockon And the best part was when Ville searched the balcony, found me, WAVED AT ME and then played Vampire Heart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :faint: I took a whole roll and a half of pictures, but I don't have a scanner to show them. I still can't believe that I met Ville AND Bam! I couldn't have asked for a better birthday! That man is even more gorgeous in person that he is in the pictures.

And I'll be headed to the Myrtle Beach show in 4 days with a digital camera, so I'll have pictures this time. wav

I did indeed take pictures, but I don't have a scanner. I'm looking into buying one here soon (when I get more money). They're not the best, but I'll definitely have my digital camera with me this time and I'm going to do my best to meet Ville again.

And DragonTears, I can't figure out how I spoke when I was with Ville. It baffles me to this day that I didn't drop to the floor and latch onto his leg like a desperate, horny dog. slydevil And for some reason, I expected Bam to be less gentlemanly. But he was a sweetheart. And you could tell that VAM does indeed exist.

I think I'm going to start referring to chemistry between two people as VAM. Like, Mike and I have VAM. :lol:

Prepare yourselves!

Ok, let me get my rant out of the way first. The trip down there was a nightmare. We got lost five different times and NO ONE could give us proper directions. A 5 hour trip turned into an 8 and a half hour trip! Then I went into one of moods and I suddenly didn't like the outfit I had planned on wearing. (Now I'm glad I went with the shirt I did cause I ended up in a serious mosh pit.) Then we get to the House of Blues and they f**king took my camera away. (Don't worry, I'll have pictures soon b/c Steph has a camera phone and she took a few good pics and vids. And I did get my camera back.) And this time I managed to get Ville's autograph, but the paper got rained on and now it looks like an ink blot test!
Now, to the good part: HIM ROCKED! And I liked Aiden. The lead singer, his name's William, seemed to like me too, cause he kept looking at me and waving and he blew me a kiss. I didn't mind. He was hot. I was front row center for most of it. I lost Stephanie in the crowd when the mosh pit went crazy, but I made a new friend, Kacey. This dumb mother brought her 12 yr old and her 8 yr old kids down in the pit and Kacey and I ended up trying to help her protect them. I was elbowing, kneeing, stomping ppls feet, and kicking like a mad woman. The security guards came over and helped us get the kids and the mother out of there. Ville dedicated Play Dead to some chick who threw her bra up on stage. It was so funny!! Then, while we were waiting for the encore to come on, the guards came back over and helped us over the barricade and took us backstage. (I thought we were in trouble for something!) We waited on the side of the stage while they played the encore and then we got to go to the dressing room and wait. And there he was, in all his sweaty glory!! Poor thing was soaked in sweat, but then again, so were me and Kacey. We didn't mind getting hugged.
I thought I was going to die when Ville looked at me for a minute and then said, "Hey, I know you." He said, "I don't remember which concert, but I remember it was your birthday. Bam said you were pretty cool." I said I was surprised he recognized me since I've cut my hair since then and he said it was my eyes that made him remember. Then he asked how I've been and how we liked the concert and he apologized for sounding sh*tty. (He didn't and we assured him of that,) Then he said he saw me and Kacey helping that woman and her kids out. He said, "I was pretty f**king amazed at how tough these two little women were out there against that crowd. I thought you might like to come hang for a minute." He gave us each a towel to dry off with because not only were we sweaty, we had nasty beer spilled on us too. I showed Ville my tattoo and he really liked it. I told him it wasn't finished and I was adding vines with my family's initials. He said I should make the letters the leaves of the vines. That man is a genius!
I finally got to meet Linde and Gas. Linde spoke!!! He said hi. (Not much, sure, but Linde's, like, a mute most of the time!) Gas was funny. I asked where they were most excited about going and Gas said, "Texas! I'm going home!" That made everyone laugh. Then Steph called me and I told her where I was, but she was like, "No really!" I handed the phone to Ville and he said, "Hello sweetheart. I'm sorry I kidnapped your friends. I promise you'll get them back soon because sadly, we can't take them with us." I told Steph I'd see her in a little bit. Then a roadie guy came in and said that they had to start packing up. Ville apologized and said he would love to hang out some more, but they had to be in Atlanta the next day. Kacey and I got hugs and headed out the backstage door.
We ran into William when he was coming back inside and he gave me a hug and said, "Hi cutie. You were awesome in the crowd tonight." I just said thank you and kept walking. I think I should have stayed and flirted. Maybe I could've gotten in good with him and toured with them. That would've been AWESOME!
Other than getting lost and being in a bad mood most of the time, I had a lot of fun. Meeting Ville and the rest of the band and William from Aiden was awesome. It made it worth getting lost for 3 hours and being all pissy. I'll have to take pictures of all the stuff I got. I had $100 in cash, so it's not too much, but I'm happy.
