are you allowed to request pokemon in your profile? I know you might not get them, but are you allowed to make a polite request?

The thought never crossed me. Perhaps once you're given the set of Pokemon, see if you might be satisfied. If not, do request a Pokemon afterward. The request has a 50/50% chance of getting approved, dependent on three factors: your Profile, Pokemon's rarity, and the kindness of the moderator. Yea xP
