Description: Philomela is about five feet and four inches tall and has a slender, lithe, and healthy body. She is Caucasian with a warm, peach-colored skin, long chestnut hair that billows just past her shoulders, and mysterious but inviting emerald eyes, flecked with hits of jade and azure. She is beautiful, but keeps her appearance modest to avoid too much attraction to her. Philomela usually wears a simple yet elegantly-laced light blue dress and tailored dress shoes that keep her dainty feet comfortable beyond white socks. Her accessories include a Victorian hat tied with a silk ribbon and three small gardenias and an opaque, mystical orb threaded around her neck, clamped by a silver crescent moon. There is no confirmation as to why Philomela carries around such a strange pendant, but some believe that it is her last connection of her lost lover and she wears it as remembrance for her tragedy.
Personality: From first perspectives, Philomela comes off as remarkably gentle and humble, amiable yet shy, benevolent and empathic to all creatures, whether human, animal, or plant. She tends to spend much of her days alone, whether engulfed in novels in antiquated libraries, drifting through meadows and forests, or caging herself quietly in her quaint home. While she seems to have a poor social life, due to her passive airs, but if spoken to, she will act astoundingly polite and eloquent. Many dismiss her because of her timidity, as she easily becomes flustered or embarrassed, but the few who gaze beyond this façade excavate a magnificent, passionate, poetic soul who lives to explore the world of aesthetics and the arts. Philomela is a very complex character who is almost impossible to figure out in his lack of spoken words but highly poetic and philosophic vernacular, yet somehow she lives and yearns to find happiness and peace within her soft, fluttering heart.
Like and Dislikess: Philomela is an even-tempered young woman, and therefore can flexibly apply to others’ tastes. She enjoys spending time with her family and her few friends, discovering the wonders of nature, reading classic literature, researching about pokémon, and having friendly philosophical conversation.
Philomela dislikes very few things, perhaps because she grew up in a humble home with a loving family (for the most part). However, she does not like people who are arrogant and narrow-minded as well as hurting others, especially the people that mean the most to her, unless the situation deems to do so.
Fears: What Philomela fears most, beyond all other frights, is death. She has seen death pass over her life and her love in a matter of seconds, and she watches as Death meditates upon her ill father. If anything, this grand fear only kindles her passions to try to live in her gathering sorrow.
A more internalized fear, however, is that Philomela fears herself. Through her withdrawal from the world, she realizes that she has essentially and unintentionally pushing people away when they tried to release her from her sorrow, yet at the same time people withdrawal from her in fear of joining her melancholy brigade. She hates how this fear, the powerful drug, has overtaken her, and is afraid of how much more pain will she cause for those who try to get close to her and to herself. Having courage, therefore, is her most difficult deed: should she save herself for later, or generously give?
Wishes: Philomela may seem like she would wish about many things, particularly for her life to return to the way it was when she was a child, naive to suffering, she knows that her life has been crafted in a certain manner to help her grow mentally and spiritually as a human being. It is easy for anyone to wish, yet it is harder to make idle dreams come true. Philomela tries to live in the memory of the people that she cares about and loves, and therefore not only wishes for their happiness, but that she can live her life to the fullest potential.
In accordance to her philosophy of Pokèmon, she wishes that she can find absolution to her fears and sorrow through the rejuvenation of nature, and find a new meaning to her existence. She knows she is capable of so much, yet she limits herself. Through nature and Pokèmon, she hopes that she can find some meaning and redemption in her life.
History: Not much is known about the enigmatic young maiden. Philomela has an older brother, Sebastian, who acts as her guardian and protector, and a father, who is ill with tuberculosis and may not live much longer without proper medicines. Philomela’s mother is considered deceased after disappearing into the night, and she has not been seen in twelve years.
What is certain, however, that Philomela had dabbled in poetic culture through her schooling, and among many shallow companions, she indulged in the friendship, and eventually romance, of a boy named Raleigh, somehow bound by threads of destiny in their interests in the arts, nature, and pokémon, particularly bird pokémon. Raleigh was Philomela’s underlying reason for her capabilities to love, live, feel, and dream; to release her bound passion into the infinite heavens above. It is uncertain how their relationship corroded, yet the death and sorrow that overtook their lives is considered the causing variable. All her secrets and memories have been locked within her soul, and she carries a heavy burden as she begins a search for her own meaning of her existence.
In this unresolved conflict, Philomela was offered sagacious advice to perhaps go on a journey, so that she could find peace of mind and absolution in her heart, and eventually she was persuaded to travel as a pokémon trainer. In her sojourn, her full belief is that the pokémon she befriends and captures are not weapons of warfare, but as companions capable of emotion and thought. She prays that she will never forget the immense bonds she has to her broken family and especially to Raleigh.
Unsure of where exactly to go for more information or what to do, she ventured to the Kunzite library, and since she had spent many hours alone there wandering about, she could rummage through a wide range of books with ease. After accidentally discovering an antique, dusty booked entitled "The Oracle Zone" in the myths and legends section, Philomela was intrigued, as such antique things piqued her interest.
Slumped on a high branch of a European Beech tree, she had no idea how powerful words could be.
