Here's some super new screenshots from IGN of what the new Sonic game will look like on the next-gen consoles such as the xbox 360, ps3, and possibly the revolution. It looks to say the least awesome by all means. It's hard to imagine all the great possibilities that can happen to this game, but only time will tell.

although I never saw sonic as an "uber-high graphics" game...I guess that's why I didn't like that Dreamcast game very much...

Which sonic game on the dreamcast are you refering to, there's more than 3 as far as I know. Back in 1999 I thought the graphics in Sonic Adventure were superb and of high quality for the time if that's the game you're thinking of.
Sonic Adventure, that's the one.
I liked it, and it did have excellent graphics...I was just much more into the 2-d side-scrolling Sonic.
Oh, so you weren't ready for the transition to 3D graphics in a Sonic game. Yeah I kind of felt the same way with Mario 64, it took me a while to get used to the new 3D graphics but I like mario both ways. Sonic believe it or not I kind of enjoy more as a 3D game, sonic would make an awesome 2 and a half D game like that of Klonoa and Nights.
