Advance Wars 2 Review
By: StarFry64

Advance Wars was a big hit for the GBA and the turn-based strategy genre. And now Nintendo and Intelligent Systems are back with the a sequel, Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising. This game has even better graphics and makes the gameplay even more fun and memorable to play when proceeding. Although the sound sometimes sound boring or dead. Those who are willing to play the sequel instead of the first is still on track of the series. The first was just you in control of the Orange Star Army and taking down other armys like Blue Moon, Yellow Comet, Green Earth, and Black Hole Army. The story is that the Black Hole is rising again, meaning, they're BACK! And also you get to play other armies (besides Black Hole of course) and not just Orange Star. There are tons of extras instead of doing the campaign. There's War Room, where you can play against a Computer in any map. Battle Maps is where you can can buy stuff with your stock you got from the campaign. Link is the game's multiplayer. Link's Single-Pak allows your friends to battle with just one Game Pak. Link's Multi-Pak is where you can link up to your battle friends. And Link's section of being able to link up to your friend and trade your custom map for another one that you haven't seen yet or want to get, etc. The Design Room is either for you want to creat a new single or multiplayer map or change the color of your COs. Versus Mode is sorta like War Room but you can mess around with the rules and such. The Versus Mode is better to use to play with a friend. The gameplay is very hard (even on your first level which is the Orange Star's land). What's annoying is how that everytime your enemies do the exact same thing again and again and also they act like campers. The A.I. is really hard and also very annoying and stupid. The graphics are now better than from the first game yet usually it has the same locations or look of when doing an attack to your opponent from the first. The sound is suppose like real military music yet it usually sounds like techno (mostly heard when having a mission or battle). The tilt is more easier with tutorials that make your whole entire life better. The value of this is truly perfect, buy this game if you have been looking for a superb game that fits in your pocket.

Headline: Metal Slug fans would definately love this game

Alien Hominid Review
By: StarFry64

Newgrounds are one of those sites that show games or movies by authors to you for free. Dan Paladin made Alien Hominid which is known to be the best free Internet game out there by having a million (and still counting) views and other sites are showing this game. Now Alien Hominid has come to consoles Gamecube and PS2. These versions are really great and comes with comfortable tilt, new sound which turns out really good, the graphics made better, and the gameplay definately back. Metal Slug 3 fans would definately love this game because its gameplay is simply like it only more gory and violent. The gory and violent moments are actually very funny instead of those moments that make you close your eyes. If you have played Metal Slug games, you'll know that they are really hard and this one is very hard even though it might take you 2, 4 or more hours to finish this game. The audio sounds like its best with sort of this "I don't know where am I" style. The graphics are REALLY REALLY perfect, I couldn't look away from the graphics, they look perfect, thanks to Dan Paladin who makes the console versions better. Speaking of console versions, a hot question I have been asked is what version is worth to get, it is definately the Gamecube version because you can play with your 3 buddies in it. Muiltiplayer which nobody even know there will be is in here. The Gamecube version is the best for Multiplayer (like I said). The Muiltiplayer has sort of this PDA game where you and your buddies are playing stick figures and your mission is to go through the next level by figuring out ways to get to the next level. This mini-game supports great teamwork, fun, and humor when you die (it's not much of a punishment). Also there is alot of more added to the fun of this game which makes this game for valuable then Metal Slug 3 for the Xbox.

Overall, buy it or rent it, just play this game!

Burnout 3: Takedown Review
By: StarFry64

Burnout 3 is the best game I ever played! With its nonstop speed and awesome crashes that most racing games lack. It is truly a superb game that is right for you, even you don't like driving games. This game feels like a action game for some reason. The campaign is just so fun to play even though it isn't that orginal. You can unlock so many cars, tracks, and etc. The gameplay just makes you want to play it for 20 to 40 hours. The graphics look TOTALLY TOTALLY better than Burnout 1's. And makes 2 points up for its graphics from Burnout 2. Although the music isn't the highlight of this game, some songs in the Burnout 3 soundtrack feels right for the game as you go through your journey of madness. For Xbox owners, you have a chance to listin to your own custom soundtrack while also playing this game. But you can only play one song in one race. This game doesn't even have a tutorial, but still with it, it makes the tilt even better. It's a fast game to learn easily and should take only up to 30 minutes. This game totally makes it as the best driving game ever made and is the best in the Burnout series. This game is totally at its best with its value, GO GET THIS GAME NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE.

Gameplay: 10
Graphics: 9
Sound: 8

Headline: A great remake to Conker's Bad Fur Day!

Conker: Live and ReloadedReview
By: StarFry64

Conker: Live and Reloaded is a remake to Conker's Bad Fur Day (the last game to be made for the Nintendo 64). But is it any good? Not only good, but great. Conker: Live and Reloaded is a old-school 3D platformer like never before. The single-player campaign is the same like BFD but has a few changes. From either lowering the difficulty, jokes that are related to the remake or designers etc., bugs that made BFD screwy sometimes, and most of all graphics. The graphics is definately great, but much better in the campaign and not the multiplayer. The gameplay is old-school but may be boring sometimes, usually in traveling or boss fights, etc. The sound is really funny, whether hearing sounds from guns or etc. or songs that are totally funny and parodied (maybe). The multiplayer is a new part to the game and keeps it fun. What really funny about the multiplayer is they parody Halo 2 (alot)! The R-Hog, the bazooka, Steed, and etc. There are tons of video game and movie parodies that make Conker: Live and Reloaded interesting as you go on from campaign or multiplayer. The tilt however is sometimes nice on multiplayer and campaign though mostly painful. The value of this game depends only if you are above 17 or if you under that age and your parents decide it is okay for you. If you are worried about the bad stuff, don't worry about it that much. This game is much censored than BFD. So if you are a die hard fan of Conker and his rude behavior in BFD, go to BFD for that, not in here. It is definately better than Halo 2. This is mostly for Conker fans who finished the BFDs campaign and still want to play it or try the multiplayer for the heck for it. And for those who are new to Conker because they haven't played BFD for a reason, try it, its that superb.

Gameplay: 9
Graphics: 10
Sound: 10

Tilt: 9

Doom 3 for the PC Review
By: StarFry64

Short review...DOOM 3 is the one of the best PC games out there this year . Though it took 4 years to finish it but now it is released, it's just mad fun! The online maybe me boring or fun to you and the story mode might be hard or easy but mostly hard, just still go play it! The story is also kind of lame, this is a BIG disapointment. If you have a system to run it and have enough money to get this game, get this game right now! Just watch out for those creatures and such. But one problem is the tilt. It's hard to switch some of a few things here and there but hopefully it won't be that hard.

Doom 3 for the Xbox Review
By: StarFry64

Last year (2004) Doom 3 came out for the PC. It's graphics were really great... The rest was pretty good but not as amazing. Now this version is made for the Xbox and it is truly great. Every thing you hated about the PC version of Doom 3 is better. Although id Software (who developed the PC version of Doom 3) aren't the developers of this one. It's Vicarious Visions and they truly make this version better with its addition to it with amazing/detailed Co-op and better Multiplayer (though it might be the same). Co-op which is what everyone wanted, especially the PC users of Doom 3, is truly fun like always the Halo's series' Co-op. The Co-op story is like the single-player campaign but just with not one... two marines! But the Co-op goes really faster and has additional stuff to it. Also what really is fun is that there is Co-op on Xbox Live which may seem familer since Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3 series has this too. With $10 added to your $49.99, you can buy yourself Doom 3: Limited Collector's Edition (which may seem familer to you because Halo 2 also has its limited collector's editon). The limited collector's edition may seem a rip-off, it's not! It lets you be able to play not only Doom 3 but The Ultimate Doom and Doom 2. And this edition also has other features to it. I can't imagine someone play this game and not enjoy it, it's definately something to buy for everyone.

doom 3
after a short while it was like
omg another demon maybe i should shoot it
but it was pretty good for the most part

GuardianVR - August 24, 2005 01:21 PM (GMT)
I found Doom 3 extremely repetitive, I would've given both versions 7/10s. I agree it's the graphics that made it so ground breaking, but everything else was just meh. Again, nice reviews. I'd like to see you review Half Life 2 for the xbox when it comes out, I wonder how well that game will translate to the consoles.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for the PS2

Headline: This game, just came out of nowhere and Guild Wars is hard to describe of what it is.

Guild Wars Review
By: StarFry64

World of Warcraft and City of Heroes are two examples of great MMORPGs. This game, just came out of nowhere and Guild Wars is hard to describe of what it is. There are two sides to this game, RPG and PvP.

The story to RPG isn't much original like WoW's but it is about the King looking for the bestest guild who can beat up the enemies. RPG is your regular MMORPG with a story, quests, and such. RPG is probably in my opinion the worst part of this game as it is still trying to be entertaining. Although you can have a party and a guild which may seem familer to WoW players. If you are going solo, there is A.I. to help you but as a result they usually aren't that helpful. This game is better without having the RPG.

PvP is the bestest part of this game. It's all about you and your group trying to go trough obstacles that come toward you. In this side, you are looking for the best in your group. PvP seems like parody of Warcraft 3 in my opinion. PvP is great with teamwork and fun. There is one level where there are two guilds or parties killing each other which just feels insane. Sure PvP in this game isn't what you expected in a MMORPG but like I said, thank God it's here. Also in Pvp you can design your character in a more detailed way. And you can choose him or her skills, what level should she be in, what class, and etc. which makes PvP just nonstop decoration for your new character.

Other than the the sides of the game, the gameplay feels pretty much the same thing you'll see in a MMORPG but more slower and boring. The graphics however are really better than Fable's. And for those who haven't noticed, this game has light boom. The sound really doesn't sound orginal but feels good because it fits right into the times when you are with your team fighting and etc. The tilt is horrible because with or without a tutorial, this game still has the worst tilt. Another part of Guild Wars' best parts to it is its value. The online play in this game is TOTALLY FREE. Overall, I guess you can say it is hard to describe Guild Wars. But this game really is slow, boring, and thats why I'm giving its...

Gameplay: 7
Graphics: 10
Sound: 8
Value: 10
Tilt: 8

and its....

Difficulty: Very Hard
Learning Curve: 2 to 4 Hours
Time Spent: 10 Hours or Less

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas REVIEW

By: StarFry64

Short Review, if you have a PS2 and aloud to get San Andreas, stop reading this, you should really get this game along with the guide. The guide for this game can be helpful since this game is immensive or yet BIG. As you might remembered, Vice City was known for its awsome music from vehicles of music stations. This game doesn't have alot of good music like Vice City but still has a good feel when driving etc. The new gameplay is very awsome, gaining weight to be strong is awsome, you need to do it anyway for some missions. Also praticing in the Gym is really important. You could practice to fight or boxing. The Gym can be found in some levels. Actually there are lot of levels but the game considers as a state with 3 levels. The levels are like Los Angeles, San Fransico, and Las Vegas. You might remembered the casinos that were beautiful in Vice City, the casinos are back here in San Andreas. Also there are levels like The Gym, The Bridge, watherparts, and lots of more. Well money is now not mostly useful in this game. What you should get the most in this game is Respect so you will be able to be with gangs. You should really buy this game, the tilt is very comfortable, improved graphics, etc. The violence is back and other parts of the game like well there are women's parts and men's part. Okay, I will cut the crap. Anyway, this game is more likely like Vice City. If you about to buy or now buying Vice City, don't, buy this game. But it's your decision. Now I'm going to kill a mob who's been making fun of my family. SEE YA!

Halo 2 Review
By: StarFry64

The story has 4 or 3 levels of diffuculty. This story is not just about the Master Chief's adventures. You'll be mostly be knowing alot more of this smart AI. In the first game, you pretty much only know that you must kill this AI and that this AI just wants to destroy Earth but needs to use Halo. The story is that there is a elite in which you will be able to play him later. This elite has failed to keep Halo and later on he becomes some sorta of hero. Master Chief has a relationship although not really with Captain Keyes' daughter and Cortana. Master Cheif is... well saving Earth. Basically you will go the galaxy and then go defend Earth (which is pretty cool) and then so on. There are "special missions" where you basically have to do something in a level and for the most part it is fun. Such as you drive a tank or yet called Scorpion with some of your human teammates helping you and you'll have to go through the brige destoying stuff. Also like driving a Warthog with your human teammates and drive through the tunnels. It is all fun which is why the gameplay never gets boring the campaign. There is Xbox Live, Spilt Screen, and System Link. If you have a Xbox Live you should immediately play it online. Split Screen is okay that is if you have friends or people to play with alot. System Link or Lan is confusing to play with when you have to connect Xboxes and TVs together, weird. There is a mod community but it's not really called that, it's just a nickname. Basically you can make a gametype and take it multipalyer online and offline. 4 players can play multiplayer offline and online. It's really cool!Your stats really don't matter, BUT you can see your stats either from a end of a match or round and see medals and stuff. Medals are symbols that show what you really did great at. If you have all, that means you did great at the match or round. If you want to see your full stats, you have to go to www.bungie.com . You don't make a match, you make a party which is your friends or clan members etc. can come over to your party. A party is just a regular match or server, sorta. Clans are really hard to handle since once you have clan members, you and your clan members are "sticked together" which means if you die alot, your clan member's stats will fall. So it is better to have people who are tough enought to be in a clan. About your stats, if you have great stats and are in a higher level, then you will become more stronger but if you keep failing to kill or keep dying your stats and levels will fall down. The content download is a great feature, but so far there is none till this date (10/11/04) so I guess we have to wait. Matchmaking is okay but your friend can't join the matchmaking game you are in. In order to join in a M.M. game you will to try OptiMatch or QuickMatch. Making profiles is fun. Making 4 is enough but you make as much just like making your own gametype. When making a profile, you can make your own "badge" and it will be your own icon. You can choose to either be a Spartan or Elite. Althogh both of them have differences. Elites starts with plasma grenades and Spartans start with regular grenades. Also maybe Elites are better or stonger or Spartans, I guess you can say they are both fair. You can choose any color you want your person to be. And alot of stuff you have to decide yourself.

Overall the game is so fun. But if you have played this game and the campaign, you'll see it's not a great seuqel. I'm sorry but it's not. The campaign should have much harder or fair, it depends on you. The campaign should be much longer or shorter if you just want to know why happens in the ending and etc. But this game is a perfect game just not a great sequel since sequels only count as just the campaigns and not other stuff. The graphics are okay but the scenes go to high-res to low-res and gets confusing, thank god for subtitles (a little). The graphics look old-school like from the first Halo. The tilt is okay but it gets confusing when doing it online because the white button is about hearing and chatting and you get mad for some reason because you can't hear or chat to people. The new sound is okay but what really is sad is the weapons' sound sounds awful and dreadful. This game is the best Multiplayer game and a little bit of great Campaign if you think so. Anyway, you should really get this game.

Graphics: 9

Sound: 9

Value: 10

Tilt: 9

Half-Life 2 Review
By: StarFry64

The sequel to one of the best PC series is finally here, it's Half-Life 2. Recently, Value has found the perfect graphics system which is called Source. They used Source for two of their games, Half-Life 2 (of course) and Counter-Strike: Source (which comes with Half-Life 2. Also yes, they used Source in their title lol). So far, playing this game is a blast, no lag at all and the graphics are totally top-notch. The tilt in CSS is totally great but in Half-Life 2 the tilt in weapons and maybe moving is disapointing. Sound is kinda great but the music is not much heard in Half-Life 2 and really not much in CSS (of course, for some reason). The gameplay is pretty much classified as Old-School. But the gameplay is little bit better from the first. In Half-Life 2, the weapons in it now are very powerful than the first and in CSS, still has the old weapons and makes it look hard for your enemies to beat you. The value of this game is really sad. Not just for the fact that when I was about to but it, it still cost $54.99 (and the game came out last year (2004)). But actually the reason why the value is so sad because mainly people just want to play CSS and not Half-Life 2. Since that people have been waiting for an updated PC version of Counter-Strike. This game pretty much won't be worth playing alot like World Of Warcraft but it will make it for you about 10 hours or less for the campaign due to the fact it is short a little bit and in CSS it will make it for 5 hours or less to play it to make it worth while. Overall, play this game, it is that great/superb.

Burnout Revenge Review
By: StarFry64

Every gamer should know whats the #1 racing game of all time. Its BURNOUT! Though Burnout 1 and 2 didn't get alot of the attention it didn't deserve. The third one did, published by EA, with improved graphics and better gameplay, it got the highest rating I gave to all my reviews. It deserved alot of awards for Best Driving Game on E3 2004 and of 2005. The expansion pack, Burnout Revenge, takes the graphics, gameplay, and the sound to make it better. Though they left the music, value, and the tilt behind as of it wasn't the huge point of the third one. The graphics are definately better and although the cars don't seem that detailed and cool like the third one's, the levels seem to have their own character though shortcuts in level will cause confusion where to go to win a race. Shortcuts won't be able to give you more of a boost though a way to catch up a person. Though a hard-core driving fan should know that in this game, drifting should be the chance you should choose in order to catch up to something. The AI is definately smarter now. Which makes this game very hard. Cars don't have classes. And for some reason, every time you get a new car, and you try to find it, its not there. So either its just a memory error or its only for that type of racing genre. The gameplay, as you guess, is focused on recking any car (sort of). This new feature, Revenge, is when you get take down my a driver. The driver who take down is now your Revenge Rival, if you take down your Revenge Rival you will be given only 1 bar of boost which I expected to get a better prize. All I can say is that its going to be very hard to take down your Revenge Rival considering it will go faster and will stay away from you as possible. Also you can take down cars that are not your oppenents (traffic). If you take down the traffic, you will be able to be given a boost though you can't take down traffic big trucks, buses, or anything really big which seems realistic though Burnout 3 got popular because it wasn't trying to be really realistic and good, like GT4 and Forza. The music really was the worst parts of Burnout 3, and now for some reason, EA tries to let you not hear the music at all. So mainly, the music is to be totally ignored. The sound is totally better than the third ones. The tilt and the camera is really bad. It feels you are driving the car below it and need to look up in order to see a better angle. The value overall is not much worth it but I love Burnout 3 and I'm wating a expansion pack. This one is not great, its good. So either rent or buy it, but don't pass it.
