Title: EPISODE 44: Wicked Fan v Foe!

Let's have a heated debate! Tim recently took friend Darren to see Wicked. Neither had ever seen it before and neither rated it high. Lisa, meanwhile, (making her début as a presenter) has now seen it five times and loves everything about it. So it's time to discuss whether this mega-musical is Wonderful or merely Popular. Tim and Darren review the show first, then Lisa reports from the final performance of Helen Dallimore and Martin Ball, interviewing fans of the show as well as giving her own views. Finally, all the reviewers, plus Nick, debate the show's pluses and minuses! Controversy is certain!

I love Wicked, but I can understand some parts of what Tim and Darren were saying...

I love the whole friendship aspect of it, and the twist on the original Wizard of Oz story. I don't think the subtle Wizard of Oz references were totally lost on the audience- both times I've been everybody loved the 'Melons and Lemons and Pears' 'Oh My!' line, but we have to remember that it was written by, and originally for, Americans, who apparently love the Wizard of Oz much more than we do in the UK.

I've read the book too and loved it, even though it is so different from the musical. And I agree that you can't really grasp the whole of it the first time you see it- there's just too much to see! The circle is definitely better as well- even though i was right at the very back of the circle, i preferred it to being in the stalls, as you can then see everything! this was a great episode, thank you! :D
