Title: The Light in the Piazza

I went to see it last night, and before I start, I have to say that "The Curve" has to be my new favourite theatre! Good legroom, low stage (was on third row and had a great view. The foyer also is interested, and is certainly worth an explore before the show.
I have been a fan of The Light in the Piazza for a while now, having seen the broadcast of the original production, and it was great to see the show live. At first, I was not fond of Lucy Schaufer as Margaret, due to the fact that she missed a lot of the comedic lines in the first half. However, by half way through the first act, all of this is forgotten, and it is obvious why she was cast: she has a gorgeous, dramatic voice, and in the emotional scences of the second act, she was simply superb. Caroline Sheen is excelent as Clara, giving a wonderfully balanced performance of this very complex character. Matt Rawle completely convinced me as an italian, and even when singing in a foreign language, it was obvious what he was saying. The rest of the cast were also very talented, and praise must go to the ensemble, who despite not having much vocally to do, they shine.
The set was very well execduted, and was used to it's fullest capacity. It was easily West End standard, and would fit great on the Lytellon. The costumes were also excelent, despite some very dodgy wigs.
Basically, I think this show and cast would be great in the West End, just get some good wigs!
