World premiere of a new musical 'BARNABY RUDGE' that is being staged at the Scarborough Spa Theatre,North Yorkshire 18 -21 March.
Based on the novel by Charles Dickens, has been composed and arranged by Musical Director Bill Scott from Scarborough,who has arranged many of Malton Operatic Society shows over the years,and written by Mike Lyons from Scarborough, with more than 20 original songs.
The pair have formed the community enterprise, Pure Chance Musicals, to produce this and other new musicals.
Bass Baritone David Hinde plays John Willett,the Inn Keeper of the Maypole Inn Willett's solo 'The Bell' tells of an unsolved murder that has taken place 22 years ago,and of the ghost & the haunted bell that tolls on the anniversary of this date each year.
London is in flames, it’s streets occupied by a raging mob and all government is paralysed.
This is the dramatic backdrop to a new musical having its world premiere at the Spa Theatre, Scarborough, from Wednesday 18 – Saturday 21 March 2009. This moving and powerful production is just over two hours long, includes more than 20 original songs

Unlike many of Dicken’s other novels, “Barnaby Rudge” has largely escaped the attention of dramatists. Only one play of 1907 and a pre World War one silent movie (long since lost) are recorded
There is a BBC radio adaptation, but this is the first musical version and the first “visual” productions for over ninety years.-it really is unique so don’t miss it!
