Title: If you could go back in time...

which shows would you see?

For me, it would have to be...
Rex Harrison and Julie Andrews in My Fair Lady.
Dennis Quilley and Sheila Hancock in Sweeney Todd at the Drury Lane,
Julia McKenzie and Imelda Staunton in Into the Woods at the Phoenix,
Sunday in the Park with George at Playwrites Horizon,
Bernadette Peters and Robert Westernberg in Sunday... at the Booth.
Donna Murphy in Passion,
Maria Freidman and Philip Quast in Sunday... at the National,
Original Cast of Falsettos on Broadway,
Origional Cast of Spelling Bee at the Circle in the Square,
OBC and OLC of The Drowsy Chaperone.

Quite a long list!

Patti LuPone in Evita,
ditto on the Julie Andrews in My Fair Lady
The Original cast of Pippin

There's more, for sure, but this is all i can think of now

I would see Miss Saigon in London (only because I've never seen it)

I would see Beauty and the Beast at the Palace Theatre on BWay (only because the Lunt was far too small and they used the touring set!)

I would accompany my dad as he was the who saw Tim Curry in The Rocky Horror Show before it was a movie.

I would say go and see Oliver again at the London Palladium, but as a much bigger version is due to open in December, I am not really bothered - I am just looking forward to this one!

Ethel Merman in Gypgy, Hugh Jackman in Oklahoma and Boy from Oz and Streisand in Funny Girl (Broadway). Also agree re Julie Andrews in My Fair Lady.

Original Funny thing happened on the way to the forum on Broadway. Bernadette Peters and Robert Preston in Mack and Mabel. Preston and Barbara Cook in Music Man.

Just a few off the top of my head...

Off the top of my head, I would see -

The Donmar production of Parade
The Menier production of The Last Five Years
The Menier/Wyndham's production of Sunday In The Park With George
The OLC of Miss Saigon
The OBC of Beauty and the Beast

sondheimfan has named most of the ones I would want to see. I would also have loved to have been in the audience in Willliam Finn's New York apartment for the original reading of In Trousers!

I think the original production of Hair would have been very interesting to see, as well as John Cameron Mitchell's Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

Definitely would have liked to see the original Rocky Horror, altho that's one of those shows where you can't tell whether you would have spotted its brilliance in a small "fringey" production, before there was any buzz around it.

I've always kicked myself that I never went to see Cats at the New London while I had the chance (which was a long while!!).

I'm remedying the fact that I missed Monkey -Journey to the West at the Opera House, by catching it at the Dome soon.

...oh, and I'm very sorry that I didn't pop down to see Behind the Iron Mask in 2005 (altho I was busy with my own loss-maker that year!)

Completely agree with Bill Finn's reading's in his apartment, and the original Hedwig, especially with John Cameron Mitchell or the woman (can't remember her name).

Yeah, the Donmar Parade and OBC of Falsettos and Pippin. [title of show] off-Broadway, especially since I don't have the funds to make it to New York to see it this year...

OBC of Once On This Island.

The original Steppenwolf production of August: Osage County, which I was in Chicago for and never saw! Argh! I need to keep up with the theatre scene more.

OBC of Spamalot.

Maybe OBC of Ragtime--I actually saw it, but I was thirteen and don't remember it well.

I suppose we could be really crazy and say original productions of, like, Shakespeare...

Original cast of Rent. I like the show less as I get older, but I still think it would be worth seeing.

I'm sure I could come up with others if I tried, but it's depressing to think about!
