I've been trying to work out the best way to get to London to see the big stuff. We like to go down over a weekend, complete with suitcases, and get a matinee and an evening on the Saturday, as well as a shopping day on the Sunday.I've got two reasonable ways so far, coming from Worcestershire, but it all seems so complicated:

1) M5, M42, M40 to J1, park at Uxbridge, get Piccadilly Line to Covent Garden
2) Train from Droitwich Spa to Worcester Shrub Hill, then change for Paddington, then Circle Line to King's Cross, and Piccadilly Line to Covent Garden

EIther way, the money works out the same, and the train seems to be just as stressful as the drive. What's the best way to get into London these days?

Probably driving. I only say this because the tube network think it a good idea at the weekend to shut certain lines down. For example, as I type this, the central line is part suspended, circle line has delays, district line has severe delays, the east london line is not open at all, the Hammersmith and City line is part suspended, the jubilee line has a part closure and the northern line is partly closed.

So - driving would be my option. But, I don't drive... so... I don't know how stressful it is.

Coach is always an option...
