Summary

Kiritani Shuji is the popular guy who gets along with everyone, from the jerks to the nerds to the just plain weird. He's the one that everyone can count on. However, what they don't know is that Shuji knows how predictable his classmates are and he plays off their predictability to his advantage. His day-to-day existence as "Shuji-kun" is just a facade he uses to play in the school popularity game. Truth be told, Shuji is bored.

The one person Shuji cannot stand is Kusano Akira. Unlike Shuji, Akira is just plain annoying. Akira loves his soy milk so much, he gets drunk from it. He laughs funny, he talks funny, and he acts funny. Nobody in class takes Akira seriously. Shuji can't stand the sight of Akira and it drives him nuts that Akira does whatever he wants despite Shuji's expressed dislike of him.

Shuji has a daily ritual of touching a certain willow tree for good luck. One day, he is startled to find out that his willow tree was uprooted and in its place, a freaky-looking girl telling him that some people took the tree somewhere else to be spotted. She joked that she was planning to hang herself from that tree. Scared, Shuji runs away.

Things heat up when a new student comes to school. Shuji is shocked to find out that the new student was the freaky girl he saw the day his willow tree disappeared. Her name is Kotani Nobuko, a girl who has no self confidence at all and is content at being made fun of and bullied in school.

Shuji and Akira come to an accord that in order to make use of their "youth" they will "produce" Nobuko as the next popular girl. One of the conditions, however, is that nobody should find out that they are working together as a team to make this concept possible.

Of course, there can be no protagonist without an antagonist. There is a mysterious girl in school jeopardizing the duo's plan to make Nobuko popular. The mystery continues to unfold.

Unveiled here is the story of true friendship between three unlikely candidates who would not have been friends if not given the special circumstances!

@SF: LOL, well, i didn't like them because a lot of people liked them, become such an outrated thing, but i found this drama and seems interesting and they don't seem like themselves, the guy from NewS, uhh Tomoshita Yamata...?? Anyway, he plays a funny retarded guy unlike himself which is pretty serious.

And yes, the song is good too. Jhonny's aren't soo bad.

This drama is getting good, this guy who looks like Takahiro (wow lots of guys look like him, eh?) well, he wrote a love letter to the loner girl, and she's like all freaked out, and then they go on a double date with Shuuji and the other girl, but then...well...watch it yourself to see how it goes.

That guy is SUPER CUTEEEEE!!~ he's so adorable heheh. But I still love Yamapi more hehe~ well, he's really good in this drama. You know Ki-chan, Yamapi actualy personality is kind of similar to Akira, if you watch Summary back stage 2004 (I think...wahh that's so useful Nat ^ ^") he and Jin were so funny! *cough cough yeah...I'm a Johnny's jr fan XD* Kame is not bad in it either, I like he's in Sapuri though, you should check it out if you have time. Anyway, I'm a BIG fan of this drama, my friends and I really enjoyed watching it! heheh ;)

Wow Yamapi's personality is similar to Akiras?? LOL, i thought he was always a very serious person, since in songs of NewS or other dramas, he act very serious, especially in the beginning of Kurosagi (i've only watched the beginning though) Yeah Kame isn't bad, i don't think he's bad at all.

I think yamapi doesn't open himself until Nobuta O Produce actually! yeah and Kame is good at acting!~ Do you know that this dram is from a novel?? and actually Nobuta meant to a guy instead of a girl? and the ending is different as well... if you want to know what the real ending was like, I'll come and tell you later hehe ^ ^

Aww the ending of it was so sad, though i finally got to finishing the whole thing up! Wow this drama was a novel? Never knew that, I want to know the ending for the novel too! ^^

I'm kind of surprise that this drama doesn't have a movie (or at least i don't think so) because most dramas have movies to end their season, but not this time.

I knowwwww the ending was saddd. But we won't spoil the ending for people who want to watch heheh. But for the ending of the novel...I don't think anyone will go and read the novel right? I'm not too sure if it has been translated to other languages or not....well, the ending is actually Shuji killed himself >___<;; I think in the novel, Shuji's character is a lot darker and lonelier than the drama's one. So in the end he was getting unpopular, and no one associates with him apart from Nobuta :( so sad...so he's in the end committed suicide....I'm so glad that drama didn't end this way though. When to come to think of it, the drama's ending is actually happier than the novel's one.

No I don't think it has become a movie...it's quite strange actually I thought is would too!

OMG? He did?? I'm so glad that the drama wasn't the exact same as the novel, or else, i think i'll be crying about the same amount of tears as in 1 litre of Tears. And I wonder why he suicides, some people aren't even popular to begin with. >___< Did you read the novel or did you heard the novel from some place?

I know!! same!! I would cry so baddd >___<;;; My friend read it from somewhere, the source is quite reliable as well. I think it's because he was really popular in the beginning, because he never says no to people and always please them all the time, even if that means he has to lie to himself. And I think in the end everyone found out that he was lying, so they started to drift away and shuji found himself alone in this world...or something like that. That's so sad though, and so depressing >__<;;

I think I'm going to watch it again this summer. I really like the role that Yamapi plays, he always plays a stuck up person in dramas, but it's cool to see this role is different, but suits him well!

lol ur talking bout Yampi rite? Hes funny as hell in that drama and i uaually tend to like the characters he plays. But Nobuta Wo Produce is one of my favs in terms of dramas.
