Ruth, move this if you want to, I don't mind, this is just the busiest place I know on the forum.
MDOT new regulations are making me replace my old mailbox with a new standardized version since I live on a state highway.
It is an old plowshare, with the original wooden handles. I painted it John Deere green and yellow, and it has made a lovely landmark around here for many years, but thanks to the state of Mississippi, I have to replace it, and I did today. I now have a lovely redwood post and a white mailbox. (They may force me to conform, but I will do it in style!)

This mailbox has been the landmark to mark my driveway since I've been here, and long before that! I remember it from when I was little. Makes me mad that I have to replace it, when there are so many concrete bridges that need some safety rails! hm But there is no use getting in a fizz about something I have no control over, so down she came. I like my new one. Looks nice and clean.
I actually posted it on tupelocheapcycle along with some ornamental iron. I was asking $500.00 for the iron, but I accidently listed the mailbox at $500.00, too! I started to go back and change it, but I thought, nah, someone may actually buy it for that! I'll come down several hundred dollars on it next week!
My brother was about the build a brick one, but thankfully we found out about these new rules for state highways before he did! I think the brick ones are classy.
