I have a reg. 3 1/2 year old gelding that I am having to sell. He has been on trail rides before. The only thing is he has a sore above his withers that blows out and then gets well and so far has blown out twice since Feb. That was the last time he was rode. If his back would ever get well he would make a great kids horse. I need $400 for him or best offer to pay the vet bills. I hate to take him to the sale. I can send a pic if anyone is interested.

It sounds like he has what is known as "Fistulous Withers" It is infection caused by saddles that don't fit the withers properly. Sometimes in some cases there is no observable evidence that trama or infection is the cause. Sometimes it will be on both sides of the withers. This may not be what he has but it sounds like it to me. It needs to be bathed about 4 times a day for about 10 minutes each time with hot water, whatever your hand can stand and then you put a drawing agent on it. Antibiotics would be good and don' t put a saddle on until it is completely well.

I want to give this horse to a good home so im cutting the price to $200. The vet said that the sore could possible heal on its own. He just doesnt know. Please if anybody has any questions bout him ask me.

I can get pics if you want. He is a very sweet tempered horse the only time he has offered to kick was when we were doctoring his back, but it was very sore. His fastest speed is a fast walk. He is about 15 hands give or take (not very good on that) He is a good sized horse. Stands great to be shod. Gets along well with other horses

My little girl desperately wants a horse for Christmas and she needs to learn groundwork before I will let her ride...so your guy would be perfect...he would have time to heal. Thanks so much.
