Title: Top Darter

Craig - April 20, 2007 10:44 PM (GMT)
Good luck to all that are competing in the top darter tournament April 28th. I look forward to meeting many of you that I don't know. This is a fun time. Try and enjoy shooting with many of the quality darters of LEDA. I will mention this is a long day, so don't drink to much to early, or maybe I should say "drink a lot it will only last a hour or so".

Good Luck!
Craig

We will once again be ammending the letter that went out because it still has a bad format (in my opinion). The Format will be 301 double double Cricket 501 free in double out followed by 2 games decided by corks choice. Thanks everyone.

Thanks for the reply Tony. I'll see you Saturday.

Glad you mentioned the format, Tony. I think I know why the format's an issue (not enough cricket games), but I think that this holds true to the regular league format. In Emerald and Sapphire, it comes down to the decision of the home team how many cricket games are played, since they decide the singles games. In Diamond, you HAVE to win your x01 games, or you're going to struggle. If you win every x01 game and lose every cricket game, you win 9-2 or 8-3, depending on what second team game you're playing (a rule I'm not particularly fond of, but I can live with). I really am not a fan of cork's choice for the deciding game, either. I really think that the format should be predetermined. That's just me, though.

Another thought I have heard (and I thought it was a pretty good one) was to expand the number of participants to the top 4 and all ties in each division. It could be a modified round robin, or double elimination bracket play, or whatever. I'm proposing this idea in the sole interest of expanding participation with newer players. I don't think I have to tell you the number of players that have started to make more and more appearances after showing up to just one of these events. I think that the easiest way to increase participants is to increase the number of people we invite to these events.

In an unrelated note, I will be there, so we can discuss this and several other topics. This could be it's own talk show. If Bruce Drennan can get one with a gambling problem and the uncharasmatic Egan couple can get one talking about fishing and bird watching, I at least deserve a shot on cable access. Listening to the outdoor radio show on Sunday mornings with the alarm reminds me why people go to church, because there's nothing else to do!

Mr and Mrs Calderone have done me the huge favor of getting thigs started on Saturday so I can catch my daughter's soccer game. I will be there as soon as I can.

spiderman - April 26, 2007 05:18 PM (GMT)
hey dianna i planned on being up there around 11:30 let me know if you guys need a hand, i can be there earlier.

eastsidertony - April 27, 2007 09:53 PM (GMT)
Nobody offers to help me. i'm not sure if it's because it's because I'm so good at what I do or because nobody can stand to be around me for that long. Either way I appreciate everyone pitching in to help out Dianna and Phil. I bet if the office manager was doing a bad job not so many people would be jumping to help. OK I'll stop now.

Dianna - April 27, 2007 10:07 PM (GMT)
Thanks Spiderman, I may take you up on that offer.

Tony you are right no one offers you help, because you are so good at what you do. ( you can pay me later)
