Title: Round Robin

Just throwing something out there for thought:
What if every once in a while for trails we do a modified round robin? Something like 6 to a bracket, you play everyone in your bracket, then the winners advance to the finals? Maybe once a month, a different location each month, something to make it a little different. This would mean you would play a garanteed 3-5 matches that night/day, which is the main reason to go to trails.
Also, maybe a couple of other jackpots, like highest out over 100 or something like that.

I'm all for the idea of a round robin. It's not very helpful to your game to draw "Lefty" in the first round of Trails and play just 2 games. A round robin gives you the chance to experience different styles of play and hone your game.

I completely agree. Trails can become a big turn off to newer players like myself who get squashed every week and then have to wait a half hour or more to get another throw during doubles. The more darts everyone gets in, the better. It's really a win-win for all.

since I started coming to this board I found out that the trails crowd has been growing at seaway on Fri nights. I've gone a couple of times and am surprised of the talent we have here in the LEDA. If you want to improve your game, that is the place to be at 8pm on fri night. That's how the Todd's and Kevin's of the league became players. playing tough competition will make you better. I always try to help a player out. you see alot of players shooting at the wrong numbers once they get below 140. Always leave an out even if it's 170. Chances are you won't hit it, but you definately won't hit a 169 or 168!! BTW who's playing in the spring fling this weekend? Should be some good shooters.

as someone that runs trails i think that anytime there a 6 or less players it should be a round robin, no blind draw doubles and double the singles points. having 3 teams for doubles is a waste of time. I agree with Ian that newer players get frustrated getting their a--es handed to them then waiting an hour to play 1 doubles match. Have faith Ian it took me 8 months to finally make past the first round.

If you are running trails and have 6 or less people u are always welcome to run a round robin...But if you have played the 3 out of 5 matches and know you cant win and leave this causes huge problems(it happened at CDC try-outs this year)..And again for the not as strong darter taking a 5-0 loss to everyone isnt exactly fun either...Everyone knows I dont like round-robin but I still leave it up to the people at trails(majority wins)...Danny has the points figured out for round-robin but i dont know what they are so I cant really comment on the double points for that..You have to remember that there is only so much money in trails and giving away double points is really not an option..if you can find a way that trails gets the same amount of money for the points im all for it.

Sorry i was just thinking about the double point round-robin maybe if u still collected the $8 and gave them double points that might work...Looking for some help on those numbers(Danny).

Jackpots are not LEDA reconized as it is a form of gambling...That is up to the bar owners they are responsible to hold and pay out the monies won.

I agree with still collecting $8 for round robin if this helps make the points work. I don't think anyone is looking for free points. yes, losing 5-0 would suck and hopefully the weaker darter would learn faster playing better darters and more than one match, i.e. learning strategies from the better darters. like learning what "west side" is.
