Title: Weekly Team Fees
Description: Cash or Check?

adamc9409 - September 15, 2006 10:37 PM (GMT)
I have brought this issue up to Dianne on several occasions, and i'm sure i'll hear flak when she reads this, but:

If the LEDA does not accept CASH from Team captains, then why should Team Captains be forced to accept cash from the opposing team every week. Many teams pre-pay for the season at the beginning, so that they do not have to worry about collecting fees from their players every week. When a visiting team pays the home team with $18.00 Cash, the captain has to use one of his/her checks (which the bank charges for when you buy them), or he has to pay the fee to get a money order.

The visiting team, if they are not pre-paid, should be REQUIRED to come to darts with either a check or money order for $18.00. It isn't anything new to team captains! They know that on Every wednesday, they have to have $18.00, so why can't they stop at a dairy mart and pick up the money order, or write a check? The LEDA doesn't except cash, and neither should the home team captain.

If they are unable to do any of the above, then they should be required to pay an additional $1.00 to cover the cost of the money order or check.

I'm sure I will hear alot from people that both agree and disagree with me, so let me have it.....I'm listening.

Adam - You are not the only person that feels that is a good Idea, My team pre-pays so I understand what you mean. I have talen it to the board before. I will print your post and take it to tonights board meeting. I will post what they say here tomorrow.

You are right about hearing it from both sides - I have heard it from both sides.
The captains that pre-pay are all for it - the captains that always give cash are not.

Thanks,
Dianna

Dianna,

The captains that are always giving cash would be forced to pay with a money order or check if the LEAGUE made it manditory. If they don't want to make it mandatory that they pay with cash or check, they should atleast make it mandatory that if paying with cash, you MUST pay $19 instead of $18 to cover the cost of the money order/check. I really don't see how anyone can complain about that, or find it unfair. Its unfair that the teams that prepay have to pay an additional $5-$8 per season to cover the cost of money orders and checks.

Thanks. I am very curious as to what the Board says tonight. Please keep me posted

The bottom line is that it costs $18 a week. It is the responsibility of the home team to pay the fees every week. That is the way it has been and the way it should be. There are plenty of institutions that offer free checking. Please don't raise any more fees.

And the LEDA doesn't except CASH, so come prepared with a check or money order. If many institutions provide FREE CHECKING, then please, get an account there, and start writing a check for $18.00 when you come to darts. Again, the LEDA doesn't except cash, and neither should Team Captains!

The reason teams prepay is for the convenience. This way they are not gathering it at the end of every league night. For me, writing the check isn't that big of a deal. It's that my team took the time to eleviate one thing, and it gets handed right back to me. Most of the teams in the top divisions are prepaid, so this doesn't pose a problem.

I think part of the problem is that it sometimes takes 3-4 weeks for our checks to be cashed. Teams that pre pay would only have to worry about one check instead of 7 checks when the visiting team pays cash.

Then buy a money order! You said it exactly....we pre-pay so we only have to worry about ONE check clearing...So why should we have to worry about our check written to cover YOUR fees to clear? That makes no sense. It is simple enough to go buy a money order BEFORE you come to darts, and then collect the cash from your team mates....I don't think its right that the LEDA expects Team Captains to accept cash, but they dont accept it themselves....how can you justify that?

I'm on your side, I prepay. its the visitors that pay cash then i have to write a check and wait 3-4 weeks for it to be cashed. how hard is it to divide the fees before the season starts and collect from your team. everyone knows who is on their team and know what the fees are.

Sorry for the delay in posting this, I did take it to the board, and they still stand by
that it is the home team captains responsiblity to supply payment to the league in a check or money order, even if the other team gives you cash.
Maybe more captains will read this forum and start bringing a check or money order.

As for the checks being deposited, I am going to do my best to make sure that they are all deposited the following week after play.

Thanks,
Dianna

I must be in the minority here but I don't mind writing the check for the away team...just part of Wednesday night.

What I DO mind is seeing fees for the darters being increased all the time and the bar fees stay the same. Fees were increased for weekly fees a while ago. Now membership fees were increased. AND they also require a team fee every HALF!

How about putting some of the cost of this club where the money is being made? On the back of the Bars for a change?

Just a thought?
