Storyline:
Since it's a Final Fantasy game, you know where the story is gonna lead.
2/10
Gameplay:
Bad. I think the whole liscense board system is stupid. I hated to have to go around killing monsters just so I can where a hat! NO! Square you flopped from incorperating the XI engine in this game. I do love the Gambit system though, which this will summerize it: "Characters act according to an intricate "gambit" system of actions and reactions that you determine." It's useful since the battle system system of the game sucks. I want my random battles back, Square. The Gambit system is the only thing that has saved this game from blowing chunks.
6/10
Graphics:
Probably the only strong point about XII. The graphics from the main menu alone are enough to make you giggle like a little school girl. Simply beautiful. The in game graphics are strong and the cutscenes and CG scenes are astounding. The graphics to this game add to the gameplay.
10/10
Sound:
When it comes to sound to this game, I also have to discuss the quality of the dubs. Let's start off the music first. Square failed here also. With Hitoshi Sakimoto(Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story, etc.) you can't necessarily go wrong, but it did. The soundtrack I felt was horrendous. Bring me my Nobuo Uematsu. Anyway, as to where I mention the quality of the dubs... The dubbing isn't all that bad and i have no real complaints but the quality of it. It sounded like it was done in a third rate studio. BAD! Square you fail here again.
3/10
Value:
Remember, this is only my opinion and I luckily this game was on sale when I bought it. For die hard Final Fantasy fans, it'll probably be worth it, maybe not even. I dropped this game only about 8 hours into it since I couldn't stand anymore of it.
1/10
Overall, I thought this game was crap. I rather go play Final Fantasy X-2. With high expectations for this game, this was the biggest let down for me this year. But, I guess every once in a while even Square screws up really, REALLY bad. I just hope they can redeem themselves with Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII.
