Title: Sutton Out 6 Weeks - Surgery
Description: Campoli late October
Ziggy16 - October 2, 2008 01:23 PM (GMT)
1. Andy Sutton had surgery today. It is either a hand injury or a part of his hand. From my past experience, I would project an Andy absence of about 6 weeks.
2. Chris Campoli’s shoulder injury, not too bad. As reported, it is not related to last year’s shoulder injury, which required season-ending surgery. From what I heard tonight, the defenseman could be back before Nov. 1, and perhaps even earlier.
3. There could be some minor news Thursday. Can’t get solid radar on the subject, but it’s likely far from headline-grabbing news. Could be a depth player acquisition, maybe something a little more behind-the-scenes. Let’s put it in the category of P.S. (Pure Speculation) and say we could have more (Thomas) Pock-level news
Rick DiPietro will practice with the team on Friday and is scheduled to play in Florida on Monday night against the Panthers.

Hence the Polk signing...They should have grabbed Schneider when they had the chance.

I think Pock can thrive under Gordon's system.
better skater than Sutton, not as nasty. but his skating combined with determination
to make it after the frustration and bad treatment he feels he got with rangers could
translate to a better 2 way defenseman back there.
I don't see the sutton injury hurting us. honestly.
get well soon campoli!!
I also agree about Schneider now.

Another shoulder injury for Campoli is not good. Related, not related, it seems he's susceptible to that kind of injury.
And I guess this means Sutton cannot drop the gloves for the rest of the year. Hey Andy, now what? Your All-Star defensive performances alone wont keep you in the lineup.

I heard they were "this close" but Schneider was superstitious about getting injured here....

This whole team just turned into shawn bates over night. Injury prone!

I hope it's just a phase.
Hey, just thinking. Don't the Canes have a bunch of NHL defensemen?
Not sure what their situation is but last I recall they had about 8-9 NHL d-men.
wonder if they waive someone? Do we really need to look outside org since it is a youth movement?
:dontknow:

it certainly has a lot to do with that.
You mean to tell me it didn't matter one bit that Dipi was out for long stretches last year? of course it did. The players and the big injuries have an effect especially when its someone that you count on often like sutton was counted on last year.
That doesn't mean you can replace Sutton with Berard and everything will be fine.
But injuries (ie Sim and Dipi last year) have a big impact on how your team does.
imagine how different a conversation the late 80's would have been if bossy, in the prime of his career was still churning out 50 goal seasons, instead of relying on Lafontaine to shoulder the load.

Like fo-o-or-wards with hands of stone
Like tough guys with hands of glass
When they're a-a-all hurt,
Who's gonna kick some ass?
Isn't it ironic?
