The Bruins have roughly $6.5 million to spend on the free agent market, which might force them to shed some salary via trades, reports the Boston Globe.
Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli is expected to be active once July 1 rolls around, but the paper notes the team will have to move some contracts in order to create enough cap space.
The Bruins are expected to pursue Marian Hossa, who will command around $8 million per year on a long-term deal.
According to the Globe, the Bruins might have to buy out the contract of Glen Murray or trade some players.
Forwards P.J. Axelsson and Phil Kessel were linked as possible trade candidates |
I would jump on Kessel in a heart beat. Young kid, about 21 years old with some good potential.

Why on earth would they get rid of Kessel? 21yrs old with great potential that's under contract and for 850K.
I would think their are 20 other players ahead of Kessel on the trade chart.

Jerry, are they saying anything about Glenn Murray?
he's in the last year of a contract making over 4m and they could dangle him at the deadline.
They also have Manny Fernandez making 4m and if that Finnish goalie makes the team with Tim thomas, they could try and unload Fernandez.

I don't know...I read that on HF.
I think they'd be crazy to when they could have him for half the year and trade him at deadline.
