According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the Panthers are expected to trade center Olli Jokinen today.
The Panthers have been trying to acquire a first-round pick in this year's draft, which begins tonight at 7pm ET, and the paper suggests the team will likely receive one as part of a package for Jokinen.
General Manager Jacques Martin has said repeatedly that he'd like to move up into the first round of what's touted as a talented draft. It's probable that will happen.
A number of teams are interested in Jokinen, including the Minnesota Wild and Calgary Flames.
The Sun-Sentinel suggests the Panthers could move Jokinen to Calgary for winger Alex Tanguay and the 17th overall pick.
Various reports suggest the Vancouver Canucks, St. Louis Blues, Phoenix Coyotes and Philadelphia Flyers have also asked about Jokinen's availability. Sources tell TFP more than a dozen teams have serious interest in Jokinen. |
