Title: Rate Wade Dublielewicz
Description: and how he fits into our future
Webb20 - March 31, 2008 12:27 PM (GMT)
We know Dubie becomes a free agent July 1st. How did Dubie perform in his backup/fill in roll? DP is slowly developing a reputation of being injury prone and the Islanders backup has become more important than we ever thought.
Please answer the sister poll on whether the Islanders should re-sign him.

Bring back Dubie!!!! for under 850K and let him play 12-22 games a year.
Westfall18 - March 31, 2008 12:44 PM (GMT)
I say bring him back...But In all honesty, I think he's playing right now for a shot at a starting job somewhere else next season....
stevedepot - March 31, 2008 01:20 PM (GMT)
Eh, I could care less about that bald headed shmuck with the raspy voice.
He is looking for a payday, that's my opinion. Let him go.
Outside of a few weeks last season, he has not proven that he can lead a team or step in.
Perhaps he has, but I have seen enough of his "ME-ME-ME" interviews
that lead me to believe his ego is beyond that of DP's.
Let him go and get a vet in here as backup.
(of course, watch him come back next year and have me with my foot in mouth once again)
puckhead - March 31, 2008 03:00 PM (GMT)
We have 8 million in cap room right off the bat and we have many of our own unrestricted free agents leaving.
Surely we can give a moderate pay raise to someone who does the job when asked.
Dubie should be here and play 20 games next year.

:blah: :blah: :blah: Goaltending coach this goaltending coach that, you sound like a broken record. I guess Billy Smith wouldn't have won four cups had it not been for the great goaltending coach of....um....uh....um.
It's a pointless arguement. You should let it go.
As for Dubie, I'm sure there's more than a few teams that will be courting him and deservedly so. But he said in Newsday last week that if he was given the opportunity to continue with the Islanders he'd jump at it. Because if he went to another team he'd hate to have to go through the same obstacles that he'd gone through already with the Isles in order to be back-up. In other words, Dubie knows his role and he's happy with it.

I guess Dubie has done exceptionally well this season. But you really can't compare the stats since DiPi's been playing so much more than Dubie. But maybe it's a little hint...

Go fold some laundry or something. Put on some more makeup while your at it. You could also follow your own advice, if you don't like what I said, you leave! Not that it matters. I can care less about you, maybe I would've care 10 yrs ago but clearly your best of times are over.
As for Special Ed who writes in fragments and never makes any of his points clear nor can he put together an intelligent argument, lemme guess, you finished your education thanks to BOCES didn't you?

Ah....it's always nice to see that classy behavior circa 1880.
Why are you even here if this is how you go on?
And a BOCES joke to boot? Wow...did you go all the way into the 1970's joke vault because I think that was the decade I first heard BOCES jokes. Let me know when you get to the top of the "short bus", or do you not want to bring up your main mode of transportation?
No idea what brought on that tirade, but in the words of Stitch Jones, "don't go away mad, just go away."
And remember, Aloha means goodbye. :2argue: :jerkit:

IQ- classy as always.

Considering Dubie made about 500K this year and Snow's 750K counted on our cap this year, we could pay a backup goalie 1.25 mill next season (Snow's cap hit comes off the books this summer) and it would be the same cap hit for the backup position as it was this year.
I'm not saying we should give Dubie that much, but I think he's worth 750K for 20 starts.

Who exactly will be courting Dubie? There is no way he's going to get starters money because NOT A SINGLE NHL TEAM is sold that he is a number one goalie goalie.
Now, might someone go after Dubie as a backup who will play 15-30 games. That's likely. But I do believe the more dubie plays, the more he will be exposed for the huge rebounds he gives up and the fact that he doesn't control rebounds too well on low shots (mainly because of his lack of size).
However, I think teams will be looking to make a big splash in the FA market before they go after a back up goalie that hasn't played 30 nhl games in a season yet.
jmo.

Youre right that no team will automatically crown him starter, but he can certainly go to a team where he has the chance to compete for a starting position. On teams like the Islanders, Devils, Rangers and Penguins, he will be a backup because those teams have their number 1 goalie already. But he can go to a team like Tampa Bay or Los Angeles, or even Boston (can Tim Thomas keep it up) and Washington (Huet I think might be a UFA and Kolzig is old), where the goaltending is much more iffy, and have the chance to play a lot more if he can get and remain hot.

One poll was rating his performance the other was whether the Islanders should re-sign him.
