Title: Steve Webb Honor on NHL Network
Description: Top Hitter in the 2001-2002 Season

Was watching top ten lists on the NHL Network last night. And Steve Webb was named the best body checker in the 2001-2002 season. Many of his hits during that vicious Toronto series were highlighted. The mere video of Darcy Tucker's helmet spinning back and around his head after Webb's hits were enough to get you out of your chair.

And his hits were clean. Just a freight train with radar and crosshairs. His only mission was to disrupt the other team and get them off their game making them look over their shoulder when they had the puck. He was never concerned with the puck, only the man. He was very effective. Sure could use a guy like that now.

His hit on Robert Reichel in Game 3 was what probably ignited the series, those cry babies had to resort throwing cheapshots at Osgood, Blake, Jonsson, Czerkawski, and Peca. It sucks because that was the furthurest (sp:) we've ever got in the playoffs in the last 10 years.

Yeah, they showed Tucker's cheapie on Blake, punching him from behind. The more I saw the Tucker "hits" the more I got sick. And the cheapshot by Roberts on Kenny J too. Ugh.

Roberts had some of the dirtiest hits of the series. It's a shame the Isles didn't have a guy like Clark Gilles at the time. Because with him out there, Tucker and his dirty group of Laffs wouldn't have gotten away with that crap.

Yep. That hit on Jonnson really turned me against Roberts. Always thought he was a hard player but that was just dirty. And then to listen to Toronto announcer claim kenny "turned into the hit" was just ridiculous. Jonsson was in the corner and Roberts started skating at him from the blueline. At the very least, did the ref ever hear of a charge?
I had just gotten back from Ireland when that series began and I left thinking the Isles were 7th in the east and I get back and they shot up to 5th in a week. It was a wild end to that season.
