Title: The Mike Comrie Mid Season Report Card
Description: Rate his performance so far this season
Webb20 - February 1, 2008 04:43 PM (GMT)
There's been alot of talk about Mike Comrie of late. Most not too complementry.
He came here "to prove he's a number #1 center". He started the season with a bang but of late is slumping.
Rate and discuss his performance and what you think the future should hold for the Islanders and Mike Comrie.
IslanderQueen - February 1, 2008 04:52 PM (GMT)
we've had so many like him
we need someone special
someone to lite the fuse
spark the fire
something
SPARADISO8116 - February 1, 2008 04:52 PM (GMT)
I gave him a "C"
I wish he would play with a little more fire. Maybe if he stopped trying to be fancy he would produce more.

3mil a yr and second line player...I think he is better then has shown but he is NOT a 1st line center. Just like Yashin became...Yashin would have been fine on the Islanders if he was paid 3mil a yr, NOt the captain and playing on the second line.
I also gave him a D for Don't use that frackin toe drag move so much!
gdprof27 - February 1, 2008 04:56 PM (GMT)
His good start is a big reason why we're still in the race. However, when you take into consideration his boasting before the start of the season, his continued folding under pressure, inability to forecheck effectively and his aloof attitude about his performance...it's a C-.
If he spoke up at all and took some blame publicly for his play instead of remaining silent I might be more forgiving. Instead, he sits on the bench and watches guys like Comeau and Bergie play their hearts out and doesn't do likewise.
I would welcome a Comrie deadline deal.
Webb20 - February 1, 2008 04:59 PM (GMT)
I agree Prof. I'd like to see him moved come trade deadline or sooner.
sybo - February 1, 2008 05:19 PM (GMT)

Hilary would probably argue that point, but on the ice it's spot on. ;)
RockitHC - February 1, 2008 07:32 PM (GMT)
does he shoot wide with her as well?
3POTI - February 1, 2008 07:37 PM (GMT)
F...invisible Mike.
those that gave him a C...you are way too generous.
if he is really hurt....than he shouldn't be playing.
Shame on Nolan for keep putting his butt out there.
stevedepot - February 1, 2008 07:48 PM (GMT)
I voted C.
Points wise, not that bad for what we're paying him but he hasn't stepped up
and taken that next step.
Still young and potential is still there to offer him a modest contract and hope he does better next year
or...
we can go crazy and follow the rumor sites and dream like this off of EK's site earlier...

With him it could've said, "anyone in an Isles uniform except 'The Rick'".
Butpeople - February 2, 2008 01:25 AM (GMT)
He obviously is not a #1 center. Not by a long shot. But he is a viable #2 center. And if we could somehow find a #1, I think we could be happy with him at #2.
I gave him a "C"

D. Not the worst player in the league but not a first line center. He has failed to meet HIS OWN expectations. His shoulder shrug attitude screams trade me imo. See ya, Mr. and Mrs. Duff.
MCIVOR16 - February 2, 2008 05:48 AM (GMT)

I think a guy like Daymond Langkow could be a nice compliment to Comrie as 1a,1b type centers
he's a free agent this summer
IslesFan89 - February 2, 2008 01:01 PM (GMT)
I gave Comrie a C. I think he's had some good games but he has also had his bad games. The guy does have talent but sometimes he makes the wrong decisions with the puck. One thing that is certain is that he is not playing the same way he was playing earlier in the season. He is not a #1 Center but as everyone else has said he does fit well on the second line. I wouldn't mind trading him but there aren't much upgrades in free agency or trade. And I don't see how he got some F votes because I don't think anyone has played that bad..
hailSATAN - February 5, 2008 01:03 AM (GMT)
D. Comrie gets a D because he lacks true intensity and has a fancy smancy style that does not fit the bill of a team like our own. For a proclaimed "1st line center"......it is akward that he is soft on passes, a poor backchecker, and doesn't utilize a hard shot enough. Comrie is typical of the first line centers we had in recent years. I would go as far as to say I'd rather have Yashin because he has more skill and a harder shot.
Yea Yashin did not deserve his contract but the point is neither does Comrie.....trade him at the deadline and hopefully get a young player, prospect, or pick in return
Kasperitix - February 5, 2008 07:02 PM (GMT)
I gave him an A...i thought we were picking the first letter of a choice word that we believe he is...I chose A for :moon: hole

ok- so we sat in the third row last night behind the net-
and i got to see alot of comrie
and i have a little change of thought on him
what a punk!!!
in a good way
he took so many swipes- jabs- nasty lil touches
however
the
problem
they are non effective- and it looks like he's spending time with stuff like that than scoring-- or by the time all that works its too late and the puck is going the other way-- but he was really nasty!
and i liked it
aries44475 - February 6, 2008 02:06 PM (GMT)
This guy has 55 PIM 2nd most on the team!! I find it hard to beleive that your first line center should be second on the team in PIM. While a gritty forward is great he isn't scoring enough to balence it out. :puke:

Totally agree. It'd be better if someone else could handle the load at center, even if it's just another guy who can put up about 60ish points, like Langkow or Demitra, like you said. Vasicek isn't gettting it done in the pseudo second line role. I'd love to have Comrie and Langkow, etc. on top of Sillinger (no not literally, you dirty minded folk) and thatd be a pretty good center lineup.

Vasicek.....talk about a guy who has gone cold. He must have about 2 goals in his last 35 games..........seriously.
He started out like a house on fire.....and now? Forget it.
