Title: Proposed Trade
Description: Proposed Trades - multi thread merge

Islanders/canucks Proposal
To Islanders: Brendan Morrison & Matty Ohlund
To Canucks: Miro Satan, Pete Nokelainen and The Isles 2008 2nd round pick
It was my understanding that the Canucks are looking to package Morrison with one of their defenseman--likely Ohlund because they are in need of a scoring winger, and they have plenty of depth on the blueline.
Satan, while in the final year of his deal, is a perennial 25-30 goal winger and fits the bill. Nokelainen is a young center, former first round pick who could develop into a solid NHLer. The 2nd round pick is important as part of a deep draft.
The Islanders need a defenseman, and they desperately need a centerman.

Nyi/Cgy PROPOSAL
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First trade proposal:
Islanders get: Tanguay
Flames get: 2nd rounder 08,3rd rounder 08 Campoli
Flames need to clear up cap space to sign Kipper, phaneuf,Huselius and others. Flames get a d-man who isnt that great yet but can eat up minutes and they also get a 3rd rounder and a 2nd rounder in a deep draft. They give up tanguay but they have enough scoring between iginla, langkow, lombardi,Huselius, nolan, and others
Islanders need a proven point man. They give up a 2nd rounder and 3rd but get a gut who gets you assists and goals.

NYI-OTT proposal(yes...another NYI proposal)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
to NYI: Wade Redden D, conditional 1st round pick if he doesn't re-sign.
to OTT: Trent Hunter W, Radek Martinek D
NYI does it because: They need stability on the backend. Redden along with Witt would give them a legit top-pairing. They currently have a log-jam at the wing position with the Simon signing, so Hunter, being one of their most valuable wingers, could be used to upgrade the defense position and a guy like Bergenheim or Tambellini could take over his minutes. The Isles do have a problem retaining high profile players(see Smyth), so the conditional first rounder is a bit of insurance.
OTT does it because: They are supposedly looking to move Redden as is, and they could use the toughness a guy like Hunter would bring to their top-6, or even their 3rd line depending how they want to use him. Martinek would also be a very good replacement for Redden. He looked like a legit top-pairing guy last year before he went down, but that is his main problem. The guy is a very underrated defenseman when healthy, he just rarely is healthy. The conditional first probably won't hurt too much if Redden leaves in the offseason, since I think Ottawa will finish around top 5-8 in the NHL. This deal also will give them the cap breathing room to lock Heatley up long term. I realize Hunter and Martinek are also soon to be UFAs, but they should come relatively cheap. Maybe 4-5M tops between the two of them.
EDIT** Substitute Marc-Andre Bergeron for Martinek if he would be more valuable to Ottawa than Martinek. I'm not sure of their PP situation, but MAB has one of the best shots from the point in the league. He is also making only a little over 1M for the next two seasons.

no offens to anyone...
since this is specluation, can't we have just 1 trade speculation thread instead of a new thread for each item from another board?
are we going to start a new thread for every idea someone comes up with?
these aren't even rumors
:dontknow:

Sorry. I couldn't get all four proposals onto the same post without losing the first one. I'll practice doing that.

These are the sort of trades someone offers for their team. Never mind that it makes no sense to the other team.

Islanders/canucks Proposal
To Islanders: Brendan Morrison & Matty Ohlund
To Canucks: Miro Satan, Pete Nokelainen and The Isles 2008 2nd round pick
|
This makes some sense if you think Satan's going to walk away. I'd have to research the contract situations on the other side. Morrison's only got a year left, Ohlund two.
Maybe a third instead of a second.

He hasn't earned his contract in 2 seasons. Why would we want Tanguay eating up over 5 mill of our cap when he isn't worth it?
