Title: Viktor Kozlov
Description: Do we want him back next season.
Webb20 - May 14, 2007 03:47 PM (GMT)
Here's your chance to tell Garth Snow what you'd do if you were in his shoes regarding Viktor Kozlov.
Pluses;
Viktor set a new high in goals scored, was used in a variety of roles and lines. The NYIC ladies like his smile.
Cons:
Some nights he seemed listless and unmotivated.
sybo - May 14, 2007 04:05 PM (GMT)
depends on the price... His size and reach are a big pro... but the consistancy is a major con.

I agree Sybo. I had a tough time thinking how I'd word the question and answers.
I think we all liked him as an Islander but not worth jeopardizing some other talent to pay Kozlov much more than he earned last season.
isleschick39 - May 14, 2007 04:18 PM (GMT)
awesome player in the shootout. great player on the ice when he feels like pushing himself to his full ability.
other than that, hes a lazy russian. :P
Islanderfan4life84 - May 14, 2007 04:20 PM (GMT)
I was a big fan of Kozlov and I hope the Islanders resign him if the price is right. 1 year at what he made last year would be good.
Mezz21 - May 14, 2007 04:45 PM (GMT)
He'll want an increase of some sort since he put up career numbers for himself. Sign him at 1.2 mil for one year. That is about a 30% increase.

Viktor Kozlov
===========
Yes, sign him Garth
Give him as much $$$$ he wants
And make his contract long term.........DP style
SPARADISO8116 - May 14, 2007 05:22 PM (GMT)
Only if the price is right. Do not over pay for him. He is a hot and cold player. If the price is wrong we can get someone else.

I think Kozlov is around a 2 million dollar player...i'd give him that contract in a second.
He's gotta realize how he had success with Teddy and stick with it to reach his full potential
CapeBretonIslander - May 14, 2007 11:44 PM (GMT)
Dont waiste your money on this guy! Go get a a guy that wants to win and will play his ass off for his team!

if he plays to his full potential hes an awesome asset...id prefer him over yashin
puckhead - May 15, 2007 10:53 AM (GMT)
Keep him at a modest price.......I'd only sign him to a one year deal. Two million is way too much for him.
I can see why teams have gotten frustrated with him. If he didn't disappear for large stretches of games last year he easily would have scored 35 goals. Of course, this has been the story throughout his whole career.
Still, he had a solid year overall for us last year.
7th Woman - May 15, 2007 11:06 AM (GMT)
He had a good run under Ted.
If they can make him work hard again next season, he's definitely an asset.
And who can forget that smile when he scores.... gotta love it.
Webb20 - May 15, 2007 01:07 PM (GMT)
As a second line threat he's worth bringing back. He's an asset on the shootout, can play the power play, can skate the puck into the offensive zone, can shoot and make plays.

I am at a point where I can think clearly on Kozlov.
When given icetime he succeeds. The inconsistancy can be remedied.
As an inexpensive second line center/wing he can be one of those guys that
may just have a breakout year for you.
What concerns me is playoffs. Grit, sacrifice and the willingness to take a hit to make a play.
Didn't see enough of that from him.
I want him back but at a mild raise.
:dontknow:
Emerald Isles - June 6, 2007 02:00 PM (GMT)
:isles: when he plays I love him for all those things we mention (size, penalty shots, still young, etc.)...but on those other nights WEBB20 said it best as he's "listless and unmotivated"...this is an important decision depending upon who they sign. He is one of those players when matched right can be a monster...
drivefor5 - June 6, 2007 02:22 PM (GMT)
I see Koz as a glorified Oleg Kavasha...he is russian, lazy and slow....BUT he can put the puck in the net...Id say sign him to another one year deal.
Give him a minimal raise for a new career high in goals.
sybo - June 6, 2007 02:26 PM (GMT)
hmmmm... now that his pal Alexi is gone... whatever shall we do with him? I like his size, reach, and skill....but he's another player who pulls a Whoodini too often.
puckhead - June 6, 2007 02:55 PM (GMT)
He's a floater let's face it........and has been for most of his career.
But he had a solid season last year for us though he disappeared in large stretches.
tough call........it wouldn't kill me either way if we kept him or not.

Do they still allow production contracts with the new CBA ?
If so sign him same basic contract with production incentives.

I agree that he's lazy and he's also a bit streaky. But I hesitate to compare him to Kvasha. He was in a class all by himself--in the basement.
bumpkin - February 11, 2008 12:42 AM (GMT)
Can we get him back? He has almost as many points as Comrie.
