Okay, if this has been done before, I apologize, but I've been wanting to post a thread like this for quite a while. Everybody's name on this board (or handle, sign on, username whatever) seems to have some sort of explanation for why it was chosen. Some seem to be fairly obvious (but maybe not), some defy explanation. Since we are at the All Star break, I thought it would be cool to have everyone, including the new members, explain why they have chosen their unique monikers on this board.

I'll start, let's see what happens. This could be a pretty cool thread.

I am Rifleman 22. I chose this for two reasons. First, Bossy 22 was already taken. Second, "Rifleman" was probably the coolest nickname ever given to a hockey player. I remember reading a front cover headline in the old Islander News on Mike Bossy and it called him "The Rifleman". That is what I called him ever since. It is with reverence for my favorite Islander and hockey player of all time that I have chosen this handle.

It's an abbreviation of my name

SnowyOnLI because Garth Snow came to Long Island. Pretty self explanitory. He used to be awesome as a backup goalie that would start a lot of sh!t.

Snowman39 is a spinoff of that name obviously, as Rick DiPietro is my favorite player. Had to modernize the name.

And 44 is the number I wear when I play hockey

Well mine is the screenname I've basiclly have had on the internet since 1990 with an extra 4. Aries cause I'm an Aries and my birthday is 4/4/75. I had to add the extra 4 when I changed providers once so thats the deal.

However now seeing that we can change our "Names" I might make it more Islander specfic.
