Title: DYNASTY TRIBUTE
Description: PHOTOS

stevedepot - October 2, 2006 03:09 PM (GMT)
How about a thread where we can post mainstream, personal or even obscure
photos of members of the Dynasty Cup team. Sort of our Tribute to the players
who gave us such great memories growing up.

Here's one of Anders Kallur. This falls into obscure.
Kind of funny to see those Lacoste Jackets.

Any and all Nick.
I think it's way too important for the new generation of Isles fans to be
able to identify those teams and players both then and now.

I have to go through my vault of goodies at home and scna some of the stuff I have.
Maybe this will motivate me. Sure alot of us have many goodies in their basement.

Those pads are so small

And they should return to that. Better than entertaining the idea of making the nets bigger.

I agree and then for me reality sets in...

Nick, you know shots are harder today with guys skating full speed and shooting on the fly.
The material back then was thicker and heavier and absorbed more moisture and pads weighed
almost twice as much after a game (slight exaggeration).

I don't want the nets bigger either. I want everything left as is...just allow the goalies to be fair game for a CLEAN hit if they come out of the crease.
That would allow the skiled goalies with good hockey sense and puck moving skills to do their thing and be effective as well as keep the moderate puckhandlers at bay.

:dontknow:

Steve, with todays technology, I am sure they can revert back to the size of pads/blocker/gloves of that era without sacrificing safety. We want more goal scoring, show more net.

I also agree that once a goalie comes out of the crease to play the puck, he's a skater and not a goalie and should open for checks and pinches against the boards without fear of interference.

They can for sure offer the same size Gear as the 80's and it would be much lighter and safer. but is it fair to goalies that the pucks now travel much faster because of composit sticks?

Yes, there is a reason why Battlin Billy, and Hextall for that matter got there reputations.

speaking of Hextall in a Isladers jersey, sorry to bring it up.

It's not a picture from the dynasty era, but still it's my tribute to a dynasty player...
