Title: The Doghouse/The Penthouse
Description: a running thread of your nominees
Webb20 - October 24, 2005 12:17 PM (GMT)
We all have players that frustrate us after a poor performance. Release some of that frustration by putting that player in the doghouse.
It is now open. Any nominees?
stevedepot - October 24, 2005 01:48 PM (GMT)
I have no one in my doghouse. I love our team even though I complain alot. ALOT!
I heard Stirling's interview following the Habs game.
He was ticked that on the 3rd Canadiens goal, Nokelainen was the first guy into the offensive zone to throw a hit and was the first and only forward backchecking. I forgot the other player on that line but I know Kvasha was one of the others. Oleg had a bad shift and I think he's one of many Isles forwards who'll get reamed for making mental errors.
This bodes well for us because Kvasha will probably come out like a howitzer against the Thrashers.

If only we could pay someone on the other team to attack Oleg at the beginning of each game and get him fired up ... Hopefully Atlanta will try it and unleash the giant within!

Oleg SMASH!

PETINEN SHOULD BE UP THERE (and NO..I don't care if I spelled his name wrong..he doesn't deserve to have me look it up to make sure of the spelling)
IslanderQueen - October 26, 2005 02:10 AM (GMT)

That's because SS is brain dead...I think....whether or not he has a brain might be up for arguement.
bowwowchow - October 26, 2005 02:34 AM (GMT)
NIINNIMA, he makes me mad, arghh
Donny with an A - October 26, 2005 02:49 AM (GMT)
I don't think I would mind as much if Niinimaa took a stupid penalty and got really angry at himself, sat in the penalty box, and sulked in shame. It's the shocked look on his face that makes me want to jump onto the rink (quite a leap from Madison, WI :P ) and scream "Yes, you held/hooked/interfered, you moron! I saw you do it, they saw you do it, your coach and teammates saw you do it, and when you watch the replay, you can see you do it. Go learn how to play hockey by the rules, because the league changed to eliminate the effectiveness of players like YOU who somehow got to the All-Star Game despite NOT BEING GOOD AT HOCKEY."
Sorry, I'm done.
Webb20 - October 26, 2005 03:35 AM (GMT)
I concur. Janne it is. Our first entry.
SigEpStyles - October 26, 2005 03:36 AM (GMT)
Thank you Sir!!
hockey4life - October 26, 2005 12:15 PM (GMT)
Kvasha is doing nothing and should be traded.... One good assist doesn't cut it.
IslanderQueen - October 26, 2005 12:37 PM (GMT)
funny you say that-- i wish you could have seen 7th- cupz and webb faces when even i yelled at him last night! :yea:
Webb20 - October 26, 2005 12:54 PM (GMT)
Speaking of which, there are some advantages when the building is empty. It was great being able for us all to sit together. We made for a very odd row. :bag:
7th Woman - October 26, 2005 12:54 PM (GMT)
Geeze IQ!
I wasn't even going to mention it! I figured it was just a moment of insanity on your part.
And yeah, my head whipped around like Linda Blair in the exorcist when I heard this familiar voice moan, "Kvasha! You suck!"
Followed by "Well.... I've got to be honest."
IslanderQueen - October 26, 2005 01:09 PM (GMT)
oh man....did i say that??
Dear God, please forgive me for i know not what i went and did.... :worthy:
amen
:bag: IT WASNT ME--
4CUPZ - October 26, 2005 01:13 PM (GMT)
GOOD NEWS (besides saving money on my car insurance)
WE HAVE FIGURED OUT WHAT TWEEDLE DEE (PETTINEN) IS GOOD AT AND HOW HE CAN USE IT IN A GAME.
WE HAVE NOTICED THAT DURING EVERY WARM-UP THIS BIG DOPE KEEPS GETTING IN OUR WAY WHEN WE'RE TAKING PICTURES, SO IF WE CAN PUT CAMERAS AROUND THE NECKS OF THE OPPONENTS THAT SHOULD SEAL OUR DEFENSIVE ZONE AND SAVE TWEEDLE DUM ALOT OF PENALTIES AND FALLING DOWN ON OR AROUND RICO...
AND IF JANNE FALLS ON RICO ONE MORE TIME I HOPE HE HITS HIM WITH HIS STICK ACROSS HIS HEAD ( AHH WHY BREAK A PERFECTLY GOOD STICK)
Webb20 - October 26, 2005 01:39 PM (GMT)
You called it Cupz. Pettinen blocked 1/2 the shots I was taking during warmup. If only he'd do that in the game.
sybo - October 26, 2005 02:28 PM (GMT)
Ninny has always been a doghouse favorite......
4CUPZ - October 26, 2005 03:20 PM (GMT)
AT LEAST HE'S A FAVORITE SOME WHERE
sybo - October 26, 2005 04:47 PM (GMT)
In pre-game Stirling was....get this...PRAISING him...said he plays better when he plays more minutes.
4CUPZ - October 26, 2005 07:09 PM (GMT)
NEXT TIME THEY HAVE THAT STUDIO "WHATEVER" I'LL ASK STIRLING
1- IF HE IS AN ASPIRING COMEDIEN
2- WHAT DRUGS YOU DOING? RX OR STREET
nyhockeyreport - October 26, 2005 07:12 PM (GMT)

AFTER THE 3RD PENALTY DID HE JUST SAY"YOU KNOW WHO IS BACK IN THE BOX"??? :bag:
Bossy22 - October 28, 2005 01:26 AM (GMT)
I would like to put anyone that got any ice time on the powerplay Thursday night against the Rangers. Makes me :puke:
Big Phil - October 28, 2005 01:30 AM (GMT)
For tonights game... I'm gonna nominate a player who many of u may disagree with me about. He has been the strongest Islander so far, definetly the least penalized... and has been the most offenseive defenseman the teams got.
he goes by the name Janne Niinima
notice my sarcasm... He has to go... period
Im starting to like Petinen, but Janne Niinima is horrible.
SigEpStyles - October 28, 2005 01:50 AM (GMT)
Can we please just throw Sh!thead Stirling in the doghouse?
This team has:
1. NO SYSTEM
2. NO SYSTEM
3. NO PowerPlay
4. NO Discipline
5. NO COACH - The moron benches Luko for a bad penalty...but leaves Ninnamamammamaamamama moron on the ice after a million bad penalties. What kind of message does he think he's sending??
SIGN GUY - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE MAKE A FIRE STIRLING SIGN!!!
7th Woman - October 28, 2005 02:04 AM (GMT)
agreed!!!!
I'm still in freakin' shock...
Danno wants to know if 0 for 11 is a franchise record... I'm afraid to find out.
NYIsles84 - October 28, 2005 02:12 AM (GMT)
yea...he's pissing me off lately
Webb20 - October 28, 2005 12:05 PM (GMT)
If that's who you want in the dog house, we can arrange a stay for Stirling in the Doghouse. Janne hasnt warranted anything to grant his release.
IslanderQueen - October 28, 2005 12:10 PM (GMT)
i was thinking the whole team but i guess putting SS in would mean the same thing!
Big Phil - October 30, 2005 03:13 AM (GMT)
Well even though tonight was a terrible loss. A game which we had. I think im gonna have to stick with SS. One could say Asham, but his great pass to Nilsson keeps him safe tonight. Niinima although still not doing anything spectacular, didnt get any penalties, and had some great offensive chances. One could say DP, but DP has been so great for us so far, I'm just gonna go with the "fatigue" excuse.
....Anyone know what ever happened to that guy who coaced the Red Wings?
Ziggy16 - October 30, 2005 04:14 AM (GMT)
still workin for the wings
Webb20 - November 4, 2005 03:12 PM (GMT)
11/4/05
Stirling finds himself in the Doghouse again, I know, no surprise there. But after last nights preformance the whole team deserves it.
Chris18 - November 10, 2005 02:30 PM (GMT)
I think Niinimaa is a permanent dog house resident.
I'd like to nominate Hunter or York. Sure Hunter is hitting, but 1 goal & 5 assists? -4? alright, if he's hitting, maybe not the dog house. How about the Official David Volek award?
And York- how many people thought this guy was an offensive threat? He's a threat alright, and certainly offensive to watch. :moon:
Webb20 - November 10, 2005 02:36 PM (GMT)
Chris, both Ninny and Hunter have spent time in the Doghouse, and may return there very shortly. I gave the players a break after the decent effort against a team that was beatable, but after the Flyer game tonight, it may get crowded in the doghouse.
RockitHC - November 10, 2005 04:51 PM (GMT)
Def. Ninny, he jsut hasnt figured out the new NHL yet.
Also, where did weinhandle go? I really expected a big breakout type year for him.

Yeah, after the big year in the Swedish Elite League, I also thought he'd do well. I wonder if it was less pressure playing over there. Or maybe because he was playing mainly with his countrymen? Or just the comfort of being at home in general...
And I'll take Hunter & York out now.
Parrish would get my vote for flubbing the shoot out, but Blake bailed him out.
Webb20 - November 15, 2005 02:48 PM (GMT)
Check the front page Chris, I put Parrish in there this morning.
