Title: Islanders v. Caps
Description: 10/30/2009 ~~~ 7:00 PM

Dr. Generosity - October 29, 2009 05:22 PM (GMT)

We might be in for a tough night after taking a point from these guys last Saturday, especially after an emotional win against the Rangers. But I'll be at the game and look forward to it.

Caps fans are notorious bandwagoneers and occasionally heckle visiting teams' fans. However, chants like "1-5" (their record against us in six playoff series) and "nineteen never" (no explanation required) are more than enough to silence hecklers.

You are going to have to yell extra loud, because most of us won't be there. Go Isles!
Have you weighed in on last night's game? How many times a year can we play that well?

rifleman22 - October 29, 2009 07:25 PM (GMT)
I predict no Rags hangover. Why? First I don't believe in it and second I think some of our guys are too young to fall into it.

They will play hard and for a full 60, more if necessary.

Let the win streak begin!!!!

LEDZEP - October 29, 2009 08:06 PM (GMT)
I predict see game before rag game.......... :omg:

Shooter - October 29, 2009 09:16 PM (GMT)
This team will come out flat and be down 3-0 after the first. Make a nice effort in the second but unable to post no more than a goal. We lose 5-1. BTW, I predicted the same for the Rags game.

3POTI - October 29, 2009 09:26 PM (GMT)
we had a nice effort against the rags, as someone said, perhaps rags are not the same without gaborik, no surprise. But honestly I really didn't see much from the Islanders compared to other games. If the rags would've come out flying and hit also. And those 4 posts they hit, we lose the game. I'll need more than just a simple win in regulation against the rags w/o gabby. Lets see how they do against the caps. Because they are still learning. And lets face it, these are the islanders.

True, but keep in mind that we are getting the Craps on the second night of a back to back. They play the Thrashers tonight.

I'm going to the game in DC. How bout you Dr. Gen?

Sure will. I'll drop you a line. Look forward to seeing you.
Any other NYICers headed to the game?

IslandersWin86 - October 30, 2009 12:47 PM (GMT)
I wonder who we'll see in goal tonight for the Caps. I hear Varlamov had a pretty good game, so they can ride the hotter goalie (he's 5-0)..or since it's the second night of back-to-backs and he faced 41 shots last night, we might see Theodore.

Good point. You also wonder who we'll start. Wish Gordon would stop the rotation and just play whoever's played well. Rolo had a good game the other night. Reward him.

rifleman22 - October 30, 2009 01:59 PM (GMT)
I agree, Rollie should be in the pipes.

And I know I look at it through rose colored glasses sometimes, but I really want to start changing trends.

Blowing third period leads, no scoring from our secondary lines and Rags hangovers are all trends I'd like to see us change.

Maybe asking too much, but we are forming our identity right now and I would like it to be different.

Let's Go Islanders!!!

Rolo was lucky. Then again, rather be lucky than good. I saw three decent saves and several fortunate bounces. Sorry to be a doom and gloom. But I see a wipeout tonight.

I wouldn't be surprised if we get wiped out.
And it won't be a "ranger hangover" for those who love using cliché's.
They're THAT good, we're THAT bad.
But hey, you still play the games and pray for murphy's law to work in your favor.

And three pipes. Negative: He got beat three times. Positive: He was in good position so that he got beat but there wasn't net to shoot at.

Agree. Pipes are part of the equipment. Then again, on two plays he was beat it wasn't his fault. The puck was moved too quickly for him to get over. So I don't blame him. I just recognize he was very fortunate.

LOL...I was gonna say...the Caps don't need us to have a Ranger Hangover...they are a powerhouse!!! However, I've seen some improvement over the last few games so maybe we'll give them a run for their money.

IslandersWin86 - October 30, 2009 02:52 PM (GMT)
Rolo in goal tonight. per ;) Strang

Gordon is starting to step out of his little box on various decisions.......this is a good thing.

rifleman22 - October 30, 2009 05:29 PM (GMT)
Bottom line- if we knock them around like we did the Rags we'll be fine. The first five minutes will be key as they will be flying. Sutton will be key, needs to throw the body.

I have no idea why, but I feel good about this one :dontknow: .

yeah, reuniting the moulson-tavares-okposo line, calling late timeout
and now breaking goalie rotation.

I like it.

I think this one win over the rangers has now propelled
this current group of NY Islanders to become the

2009-2010 Stanley Cup Champions

AND

Coach Gordon is now Al Arbour and Scotty Bowman
all wrapped up into one human being :torrey:

Ever try "guaranteeing" a win ?

rifleman22 - October 30, 2009 06:53 PM (GMT)
Nope. I value all of my digits, specifically my pinkie. I have heard rumors of some posters that actually state they will cut off certain body parts if we do not win as predicted.

Any idea who that might be?

Okay, CANADA, gauntlet dropped and ...

THE ISLANDERS WILL WIN TONIGHT. I GUARANTEE IT OR I WILL CUT OFF CANADA'S PINKY. :o

Shooter - October 30, 2009 07:33 PM (GMT)
I don't have a good feeling about this game. Then again, I felt the same way about the Rags game. Perhaps it's better to feel this way, crummy about our chances.

Dr. Generosity - October 30, 2009 08:08 PM (GMT)
Neither do I. However, I expect to be surrounded by at least 17,000 people dressed in red and having one helluva time.

Actually, I'll be content to enjoy watching Tavares, Okposo & Co. make strides. And I'm looking forward to Sutton, Witt, and Martinek (Martinek?!?) bouncing the Caps around a bit. C'mon guys, bleed on 'em, let 'em know you're there!

3POTI - October 30, 2009 09:51 PM (GMT)
sutton will only throw his body around if someone hits tavaras..otherwise, he will be non existent. I will admit Sutton has played good so far in some games. But aside for his goal and assist"where he looked like paul coffey"according to moulson, and the big hits after someone laid a body on tavaras has he done anything significant.

I am hoping for exactly the samething they did against the rangers, just play 60, take the body, go to the net. Keep shooting the puck.

clebo99 - October 30, 2009 10:01 PM (GMT)
Let's see a win tonight everyone....I think we have a shot.....Caps almost blew the game last night........We are starting to play better.....Just stop them from scoring in the first 5-10 minutes and we could be good to go!!!
